Hello everyone,
We wanted to let you know how our travels and adventures have been.
Last Tuesday, very late at night ( aprox 12:11am) we set off in the car for London. We had a gig the very next night in Balham, London, so wanted to be there in plenty of time, as we know all too well what the traffic and roads can be like on route to London!
I (Vivien)was insured for Patrick's car for the week, so we could swap over driving when one of us got too tired. When we stopped off at a service station in England somewhere for a sleep in the car, Patrick managed to sleep, but I didn't. ( something to do with his snoring perhaps??) In a few hours we arrived at Patrick's Uncle's house, and I managed to get two hours sleep in a lovely wee room upstairs. We had to leave again soon to get to our sound check at The Bedford for 6pm. We arrived early, and managed to get our sound check in first. We are very pleased that so many of you logged into the chat room and watched us live online from the Bedford website, it really did settle the nerves and made us feel at home - so, thank you everyone that logged on! ( apparently there were loads of you from Scotland!)
On Thursday we drove to Brighton to busk for the day. We spent an hour by the sea singing, and then went into "The Lanes". A restaurant manager heard us singing and approached us. He bought us some tea and asked us if we would come back and sing outside his restaurant at 8pm. He said we could leave our instruments in their restaurant so we didn't have to carry them around. We thought that was very kind of him, and looked forward to singing again at 8pm. During the day, small crowds would gather and applaud us after singing, it was so lovely. You never quite know how busking will go.
(To go busking, we decided we needed two small battery powered amps, so we can be heard properly. So, we visited Merchant City Music, in Glasgow, to see what they could do for us. They had little VOX amps in. They looked perfect, but we only had 70 pounds max on us, (to last the rest of the week in-fact!) so it wasn't looking likely.
However, seeing as I stared in Merchant City Music's latest advert, I was entitled to a discount! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qw9rHM9BYZY Patrick also decided we would trade in his little "Martin" guitar too. So after all this, we managed to get our two amps, and were all set for busking.)
Later that night, we went back to the restaurant, and set up just after 8pm. It was a bit quieter than the day time had been, but we still earnt some much needed coins! We then bought dinner, and after calling it a night, and while passing the restaurant from earlier, Mourizio (the manager) called us in and bought us a drink. He asked if we would consider singing in their restaurant a few times during the week for them. It was flattering and seemed ideal, but not possible as we live in Glasgow. We were considering going back down in August to do this, but I'm not sure if we will be able to fund that, because if it rains, we cant do any busking to try pay for our accommodation and food etc. ( the rain is the down side of busking)
We had another and final London gig on Friday night, this time at The Regal Room, in Hammersmith. A Radio Two producer was there that night along with a few record labels we are told. The acts that night were also superb. At times I felt like a tiny wee baby fish in a huge fish bowl.
Again, we had a lot of people on the chat room there to see us live on the web, so I'd like to say thank you again for that.
Also, I want to say a special thank you to Alistair who came all the way from Oxford to be at both of our gigs in London. Thank you also to Alana and her friends for coming to our Bedford gig. It was great to have you all there to support us. Alistair must have heard that we like Pick N' Mix, and kindly gave us each a bag of Pick n Mix ( sweets) for our long journey home that night to Glasgow.
Wired to the moon we were! It had been a mad week.. loads of driving.. loads of adrenalin, and very little sleep! I think we were basically living off Pick n Mix!
We left London at aprox midnight, and arrived back in Glasgow for about 10:30am.
Its taken a good few days to get back to normal, and get the sleep patterns back in, but now we are focusing on our next steps!
Tickets are now available online from Tickets Scotland for our next Glasgow gig for £5.

2nd October - 8pm
"Uisge Beatha", 232, Woodlands Road, Glasgow
(Support to be announced soon.)
We will again be joined by the beautiful Laura Durrant with her stunning Cello playing.
Our first Glasgow gig was a sell out, so we recommend you buying your tickets in advance. We will only be holding gigs in Glasgow once every 2 or three months, as we like to travel around to other places to perform too, so we hope to see you all at our next Glasgow gig!
Right now, Patrick is working on a video to be placed along side one of our songs. A lot of random things have been filmed these last few months, so no doubt little different things will be added in here and there.
We have another opportunity to be in the studio again to record soon.( The same wonderful studio we recorded The Lights Go out in) We will keep you updated on this, and will let you know what we plan to record. There have been a few new songs written lately, so one of them may make it in!
For now, take care, and please keep checking back for who we will have supporting us at our next Glasgow gig in the 2nd of October,
Vivien and Patrick x
