............
Well, sorry for being so lazy with updating this thing lately. We're still not dead or anything, we're working on our new songs all the time and working on getting to the studio sooner or later.
Check out the interview below (by rockbaari.de) to get a more detailed view of what's up with us.
The new songs... there's a lot of varied stuff for sure and they just keep coming. Think Faith No More's King For A Day, Fool For A Lifetime. Think Black Sabbath from Electric Funeral to Planet Caravan, think punk, think Pink Floyd. Think R.E.M. in a particularly bad mood. Think Nirvana trying to play Type O Negative covers. Death, happiness, boys, girls. That's what it is.
My own favorite song of the bunch at the moment is this one called "Silent Shudder", which is a cross between Myrskyluodon Maija and the big N's Scentless Apprentice. It sounds so fucking ridiculous that it just has to work. Sort of like us deliberately trying to stuff every song we've ever made into one piece. Totally unexplainable lyrics that still take me places. We'll probably play this one at our next show, should be fun.
Come to the shows and hear for yourself:
Thu 02.04. Klubi, Tampere, +White Flame, Parasite City (6 €, K-18)
Fri 10.04. Kustaa III, Tampere (UNPLUGGED, FREE ENTRY, K-18)
Day Eleven showtime for both nights is 21:00.

MARCH 2009 INTERVIEW by ROCKBAARI.DE
1. According to your Myspace Diary your third album will be recorded later this year, what can we expect from it?
JANNE: Probably a bit of a mix between our two previous albums, you know, the melodies and the moody atmosphere of our debut combined with the heavy rocking of Sleepwalkers. With a lot more hooks than before. We're not pulling any punches, it's gonna be very diverse. Some blastbeats, some acoustic songs, the whole shebang.
KIMMO: Hopefully it will be an interesting listen. The records I love the most are diverse, have a unique sound and personality, and the songs are great and catchy without sounding labored or over-thought. I think we're aiming for that kind of thing.
2. How’s the work going so far?
JANNE: We're currently sorting out the business side of things, the budgeting etc. That's the one load of bullshit we have to get out of the way before we can enter the studio. But yeah, we have lots of great new songs written and there's more coming still. Pre-production & demoing.
KIMMO: We've been writing for a while now and it's going well, at this stage it's about making the record amazing instead of just good. We've achieved the good and are inching towards amazing, hehe.
3. Did you already choose the name of the album and your debut single?
JANNE: Nope.
KIMMO: Album: All I Want, first single: Shine.
JANNE: Wow, you can't get more basic than that... Maybe this time we should use "We're From The Country Where Lordi Lives", which was the working title for the previous album.
4. Will your album be released in other countries as well?
JANNE: Let's hope so, I'm pretty sure it will be.
KIMMO: Of course it will be, and nowadays that we have Spotify I think these things about releases here and there are becoming pretty redundant.
5. If you think back, when you have recorded the songs for your first album: What is/was different this time?
JANNE: Most of our debut album's songs were written by me and Kimmo at our rehearsal studio over a long period of time. Nowadays, since Olli joined in 2005, there's four guys writing and also, we try to make the songs really work as a five-piece band. It's more of a group effort, more spontaneus. The recording itself, as well.
6. Will you work with Jens Bogren again or will you choose another producer?
JANNE: We're trying to get this pretty well known Finnish dude to produce us, but I won't name any names yet in case it falls through. He's interested, we're interested so let's see what happens.
KIMMO: I think it won't be Jens this time around...but we're not sure who it's going to be.
JANNE: Lordi, perhaps?
7. Do you plan to play some shows in other countries than Finland this or next year?
JANNE: Absolutely, there are some German shows being planned at the moment and we'll let you know as soon as we get them confirmed.
8. You have already published two albums, how do you feel about it? Are you happy with the things you have achieved so far?
JANNE: Could have done better, could've done worse. Of course I'm proud of what we've accomplished so far, since we started with absolutely nothing years and years ago. But we're still looking for that "one big break", if you know what I mean, and as long as we're happy together pursuing that dream I guess everything's fine.
KIMMO: I feel good about what we've done, lots of great experiences and memories. The music has gotten better all the time and that gives a lot of enthusiasm to keep playing.
9. How did your families, friends react when you told them that Day Eleven is more than an ordinary school band for you?
JANNE: This band stuff has been a huge part of our lives since we were fifteen so they've just had to live with it, I guess. They've been supportive, big thanks for that, even though this shit gets pretty silly sometimes and certainly doesn't pay the bills even though it takes most of our time.
10. What was your worst gig ever?
JANNE: Filling in for Jann Wilde at some charity event in Hämeenlinna 2007, no soundcheck, 15 minutes on stage instead of 30+ we were promised, everything all fucked up including Matti's amp which was dead for the first two songs and the sleaziest, assholiest, motherfuckingest douchebag in Finland, Janne Kataja announcing us on stage with the most embarassing choice of words imaginable, wrong place, wrong time... shit like that is always an experience that teaches you a lot, though. Boy, did we suck but the conditions were not helping.
11. What’s your favorite song of your own last 2 albums? And why?
JANNE: From Almost Over Everything it's the title track, and from Sleepwalkers it's Dissonance Fading. Everything just clicks on those two, the lyrics, the production, the good memories from when we were writing and recording them.
12. Think 10 years ahead: where would you like to be?
JANNE: On tour somewhere, and hopefully still having a full head of my own hair...
13. How do you spend an ordinary weekday?
JANNE: Lately it's been like this: wake up at noon, think about getting a real job, get some caffeine in me, hang around at home listening to music, playing guitar and maybe cooking, go to band practise at around 6 PM and once in every couple of days go to Dog's Home after that, get loaded and talk about Jane's Addiction, Syd Barrett or Izzy Stradlin with Olli.
14. Males and Make-up: yes or no? And why?
JANNE: If you dig it, go for it. It looks pretty bad if you don't wear it with pride, though.
15. Can you give us three things you absolutely don’t like doing? (Like laundry or ironing, for example)
JANNE: Discussing music. I really hate it but I do it all the time after three or four beers. I mean, music should be experienced personally through listening, you can't talk someone into liking an artist you like yourself. It always ends the same, you know, "Dude, Blind Melon fucking rules", "No no, Tuomari Nurmio is better."
And the same goes for our own songs whenever we try to decide if some part works or not. The discussion goes nowhere, and you either feel it in your guts or you don't. The situation usually ends up with someone saying "Everybody shut up, I'll decide this one." Which is alright.
Things number 2 & 3 that come to mind right now are: jogging and waiting in lines. Washing dishes is fine...
16. Can you imagine taking part in a TV reality show?
JANNE: Depends on what it would be about.
17. What’s the best thing for you at the moment?
JANNE: Listening to Elliott Smith and reading Robert Harris' books.
18. Do you have a message for your fans?
JANNE: Hang in there, you will hear new music from us pretty soon and you won't be disappointed.
thanks for answering and taking your time :)
