Yowsa.
Jesus F. Christ, the summer is here, and I'm feeling it. Sitting in Sorsapuisto writing this and catching some rays, not bad.
What's up right now is this: We spent the month of May demoing & (near-)perfecting our newest batch of songs at Cosmic Studios and at our practise pad, Herrain Shakkikerho. The third album is taking shape pretty nicely, and we decided to let you in on the scheme by uploading a couple of tunes for your listening pleasure. After all, it's been fucking ages since we put out anything new, so as to prove we're not dead or lazy or anything, here you go! Check them out, sing along and let us know what you think! One thing to keep in mind of course is that this is NOT the final product, but a taste of what you can expect from us in the near future. Who knows what we can still come up with before we enter the studio "for real" later this summer.

Monday, May 4 2009, 14:11 hrs
JANNE: At Cosmic Studios. The plan is to record demos of the 12 best new songs we think we've got, to see where we're at right now considering the next album or some such release. It's headphone soundcheck time. Most of our clothes are still on and there's not one beer in sight. Let's see how it all works out. We should be pretty familiar with all the songs at this point so a quick in 'n out trick is hopefully the case today. 10 hours of work and minimum busting of our balls, maybe? We'll track the vocals later this week.

JANNE: Monday To Someday in the can except some minor fuzz overdubs and lead gtrs. Then: fore!.

KIMMO: Let's see if we'll do 12 songs in 10 hours... seems like a lot of work. Hard concentration eats the brain. Still no open beer bottles. Matador felt better without a click. Thankfully Matti is handling Pro Tools. Time for a quick snack now.
OLLI: Air conditioning has to be turned off while recording is on. Oxygen level drops as temperature rises. This is causing sort of dullness and weakness as well.

KIMMO: I dunno how many songs done... feeling good for the first time today. Promised myself not to drink before all recording is done. Finland - Canada hockey match will begin soon.
OLLI: Fucking hockey. We had a deal that the internet shall not be opened but everybody has already broken the rule. Matti and I just opened the first beers. So things start rolling. I have relatives in Canada, Jimmy was born there, we have maple syrup in stores and I saw Melissa auf der Maur live last November. What that means...I dunno.

OLLI: I'm almost proud. I guess we're a pretty good band nowadays and even somehow more sober. But that doesn't mean that I haven't been a major bummer lately.
KIMMO: Finland beat Canada. Wonderful. Melissa hope you're not mad?

Luca: Damn I'm proud. Nice day, nice songs and now beer. Feeling pretty tired, but good. I've been so busy with the drums that I had no time to write here. Can't wait to hear the songs ready.
MAY 8-10, at our practice pad:
JANNE: Olli & Matti had to fix some last week's guitar fuck-ups (there were plenty, esp. out of tune stuff). I sang 2 songs (Monday To Someday & Kuovi) and tried my best at shredding a guitar solo for a thrashy number called Räs. Had some beers and got merry. We also managed to make an impromptu appearance on stage on Saturday night at our friends' b-day party. We played some Nirvana tunes +got a request to do one of our new ones, Caravan. Matti played drums, Olli played bass and me & Kimmo handled the rest. Luca was boozing somewhere else, the bastard. Now, a day off and we're gonna continue with the recordings on Tuesday. Going fine so far.
MAY 12-20
JANNE: Olli's back from Helsinki, we recorded a song called Caravan (all acoustic), did some additional guitar wank and Kimmo had to redo some bass tracks which didn't take too much time once we got his cheap-ass woodblock in tune. Finished the vocals, which ended up sounding really really good without too much teethgrinding IMHO. We came up with all the vocal melodies & lyrics for a brand new song "Locust Flight", and it sounds great, definitely gonna be on the album if you ask me. The other brand-newie, which shall remain nameless at this point, sounds pretty lame-ass. But who knows how it's gonna end up, it's pretty catchy and all so if we can breathe some life into it at a later time, maybe it'll be worth something.
MAY 22-23
JANNE: Finishing the mixes at Matti's place. Plus we did some overall EQ-ing, mastering or whatever (don't ask me) at Cosmic Studios one evening, which meant me & Kimmo sitting around smoking constantly and Matti fighting against the rise of the machines, smoking constantly. In the end we had 10 new songs ready... which means probably 70-90% of the album is now written, depending on how we feel about the tunes in a couple of weeks time, and whether we can come up with some worthy new shit during the summer.
