Just wanted to let folks know about this Black Bag event Black Studies is
putting on about art and prisons, featuring spoken word artist and
organizer Bryonn Bain (www.bryonnbain.com), thought some of you might
be interested in attending.

Bryonn Bain founded the Blackout Arts Collective in 1997. In 2001
Blackout launched the Lyrics on Lockdown tour, which travels to prisons
and colleges, using hip hop and spoken word to raise consciousness
about the prison industrial complex.
Bryonn himself wrongfully imprisoned during his second year at Harvard
Law. Bryonn wrote The Village Voice cover story "Walking While Black"
which drew the largest response in the history of the nation's most
widely-read progressive newspaper.
