Current mood:  busy

Thank you for everyones submissions for "YOU ask the questions". We have chosen fifteen questions for Katie Austin to answer below. Hope you enjoy. Keep on sending in the questions because we will update this section every so often. Thanks,   K.Austin Team

1. Being from Ponchatoula, Louisiana... How has growing up in a small town affected your music, singing and songwriting?

-Anyone from a small town knows that everyone knows everyones business, so I guess you could say I've gotten some good song ideas from other ppls experiences! haha...And I also know that if things get a little tough, I can visit home for some good downtime.

2.What will the ppl in your town think of you trying to make it in the music business?

-Their are several very talented people from Ponchatoula and the surrounding areas and my hometown has always been some of our biggest supporters!

3.What did you have to sacrifice to follow your dreams?

-The thing that I sacrifice most is spending time with my family. I only get to see them once every few months. It has been that way for the past 4 - 5 years ,so I look forward to the day I can see them a few times every week!

4.Describe the mistakes and hardships you've made in your career?

-I'd say the biggest mistake I've made would have been trusting some people that were full of crap! haha. But I have learned from every single negative person and/or experience I have had to deal and wouldn't change a thing about my journey thus far.

5. Where does the inspiraition from your songs come from?

-Any song that I write or cowrite, I have either experienced, felt the emotion at some point or know someone who has. In my opinion, the best songs come from REAL moments in a persons life. When I first started writing, I tried to write what I thought people wanted to hear. The songs were okay, but not REAL. When I started writing actual moments from my journal, my heart or a conversation with a dear friend...thats when the good stuff started flowing. And that's when people really wanted to listen.

6.What your most embarassing moment on stage?

-Forgetting the lyrics to "Life Is A Highway". It was priceless! I just pointed the mic to the crowd and they had my back! lol We had video of it, but it mysteriously vanished...(wink wink) haha

7. Of what you've written so far, What are you most proud of? And why?

-"You Can't Change History".... I couldn't get anymore personal than this song. True story. True feelings. It took me a while to finish this song because it is so real to me, but I am definitely more proud of it than any and always will be.

8. What's your most memorable moment?

-As a child I had a re-occuring dream where I was on stage with lights so bright I couldn't see where I was or what I was doing in the dream. Well about two years ago while I was performing "Faithfully" in Texas...I shut my eyes for a few seconds. I opened them when I realized the whole crowd was singing with me. I peeled my eyes open to the brightest lights shining in my eyes and everyone had their lighters in the air. It was the exact image from my dream. I knew right then, I was on the right path.

9. If you could do anything illegal and not get in trouble, what would it be?

-Rob a bank! I'd go on a huge shopping spree with my friends and family. And I would drive down the road throwing money out the window! haha....

10. What are your hobbies?

-Other than singing and writing, I am studying to be a personal trainer. I also like traveling, photography and eating food that I haven't tried before.

11. What is something that you have done that noone else in your family has done?

-Bungee jumping! I highly recommend it!

12. Where in the family does your music side come from?

-I would have to say my dads side of the family. My grandpaw likes to play the guitar a sing good old country music for fun. And my dad used to be the guitar player for a garage band his friends started when they were younger.

13. What is something your fans don't know about you?

-I didn't sing in front of my parents until I was 17. And then I had to convince them to let me quit college to pursue my career as a singer.

14. What CD's do you listen to most?

-Probably my buddies Jeff Allen and Brandon Ingle. Other than that....Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, Sheryl Crow and LeAnne Womack.

15. Do you ever second guess yourself and your career choices?

-That's a tough one, I'd have to say No. I definitely have my moments of getting frustrated, but its more a feeling of "How can I make this happen?" and "What else should I be doing to make sure I make this happen?" rather than "Will I make this happen?".

I am not a family member, and I'm not bungee jumping either. Loved the "Faithfully" answer my friend.
Hugs and keep the faith!
