Alrighty,

I just wanted to blog to let everyone know exactly what the Andrea Boyer Memory Wall will be. I have a picture of what it will look like in my pictures. The wall itself can hold up to 300 names. But as we all hope, hopefully all of those spaces will never be filled. It resembles a book so 150 names on each page, so to speak. On top, there will be another piece of granite mounted that will have "Andrea Boyer Memory Wall" engraved on it. We have had a very large piece of granite donated to us by Mr. Randy Jackson, who is a very close friend of our family.
The idea of the wall, is to have something that is solely in honor of Murder Victims, missing persons, and other victims who have passed due to violent crime. Each day that passes by, another person is taken away from their family from senseless acts of violence. I want this wall to be a symbol to all of us to signify not only all the lives we have lost, but also to signify that we are coming together to help make this change.
The wall will be placed in Jacksonville Memory Gardens on Blanding Boulevard. Many of you know it as the cemetery by the Orange Park Mall. It will be placed just down and across the street from the Van Zant tomb, behind the office building. John Shipley, who manages the cemetery, was gracious enough to donate the land. John is also getting us the wall at his cost, so to clarify this, he is getting no profit out of this!! He is an awesome guy.
The wall itself, will cost $6,000. We are trying to raise $10,000. The reasoning for this much is that I still have to pay to get the extra piece of granite engraved and mounted on top, and I want to be able to give families the plaques in honor of their loved one. I would rather give them the plaque rather than ask them to pay. Let's face it, we all need a break right? Well I think that about covers it. If any of you know anyone who would like to have a loved ones name put on the wall, please let me know or give them my contact info so that we can get in touch. As always, Thank you guys for everything!!!
