Current mood:  hopeful

I think I resent winter. I don't like the mess our modern urbanized life makes of it. The slushy, icey sidewalks and roads.... always second guessing your balance.... cold wet shoes.... the chill that goes right through you when you're least ready for it, like when you're pumping gas for a car that needs fixing but of course the money's not there.

And yet there are times when I can embrace the cold air and really enjoy the season. It's exhilarating. Because I'm warm and toasty in layer upon layer of wintery garb. Yeah, this isn't so bad.

I hope everyone can stay warm and sane this winter. Let's hope for peace and understanding where there is none. Peace and understanding for us all on the inside and on the outside. Let's all snuggle up and keep each other warm.

Right on, Eric! I have really been savoring this winter as if it were my first or my last. Usually I dread the snow, but this year I've been exhilarated in it.

But ask me how I feel about it after tomorrow's storm!

The ice storm wreaked havoc with the trees, broken limbs, downed wires, no heat or power.
The trees encased in ice by full moon light was one of the most beautiful sights I have seen.
fortunately, the battery was charged and the camera got some of the shot.
I blocked in my windows with heavy mover's quilts that I found on the side of the road. The apartment is dark. The apartment is chilled even with the heavy quilts in the North windows, the blankets over the rest of the windows, and doors.
I let the dog out on a long rope because I do not want to walk her in the snow. I am afraid of falling.

The stars are glorious in the dark. The power is out and I may be cold in my body, but my mind is hot with love for my galaxy. I feel and see that I am so small and insignifigant and can only hope my life will be not wasted.

Love. Love is the answer... or is it 42?
Keep Warm, Fran

Hey, Mr. Paradine! I must say I agree with your assessment of the mess we have made of winter by our always having to be some place other than home when the weather says "stay put". I have found some peace with the NE snow but when it ices up like the other day, I regret leaving AZ. ;-) Hope the new year treats you well and hope to run into you out there at some point. Stay warm... - Steven
