MICHAEL KREFFEL
1942 - 2008
It is with sincere regret and heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our dear friend and artiste, the incomparable Mike Kreffel.
For those who didn't already know, Mike was the artist responsible for all Sloppy Seconds cover art from The First Seven Inches in 1987 through Garbage Days Regurgitated in 2000. This includes not only his letter-perfect Kiss parody of our Destroyed album cover, but also our instantly recognizable band logo. And let's not forget his creation of our trademark mascot Al Testicles, who now has been permanently inked into the flesh of untold numbers of punk rock fans.
Accordingly, Mike's handiwork will continue to be displayed around the world on our album sleeves, CD booklets, t-shirts, posters, stickers, and fans' biceps.
A Vietnam vet, Mike is survived by his father, son, and daughter.
Mike was a sweet-hearted guy who will be missed by all who knew him, and should be lauded by all who admired his vast talent. Most of all, he was a great friend.
