As some of you know already, we were in a vehicle rollover north of Gallup, NM on 12/14. We were coming back from a gig in AZ, and got snowed in. We spent the nite in the ride waiting for the snow to stop. We then again headed out early Sunday morning. About 30 miles outside of Gallup, we slid off the road and flipped the vehicle, and landed on the opposite side of the road. The vehicle landed upside down. No other vehicels were involved. The trailer we were towing did not flip with us, but detached and slid next to the vehicle.
We are all okay. I was the only one taken to the hospital for minor head injuries. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured. Unfortunately, the Sig99 Blazer did not survive the accident.
As we continue to recover from the accident, we realized how lucky we are to have survived the rollover. I never realized how fragile we are as people. We can replace broken equipement, but we can never replace a human life.
Funny thing, as we played our last song of the nite in AZ, I made a speech about how only the strong survive. After we crawled out of the wreckage, we stood on our two feet. We emerged as survivors.
A new life and begining for us. As the saying goes, "what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger."
Was this an act of God? Bad weather? Jealousy? Freak accident? We may never know, as the accident left us with many questions on what exactly happened.
I didn't realize how much we were gigging on the road. So we decided to take a break, and recover from everything and spend time with family.
Is it over? Nope. We are going to continue back up in Febuary 2009 with new music, more energy, and more visual performances. We do this for the fans, and we love what we do. Is it worth it? The long drives, no money, the risks we take... Of course it is! The shaking of a fan's hand, telling us how the music reached out the them. It's worth every damn ounce of energy we put into it.
Thanks to those who continue to support and make this one of the most successful years for Signal 99!
