Current mood: quiet
The second show went well.
I did two songs (twice the size of my first public set!). The first was one I wrote called September. I'll have to post it here soon. I am quite proud of it, really. My sister said it seemed like a Depeche Mode song. She meant it as a compliment. Even though I like Depeche Mode, I'm still processing that comparison.
I was told that the crowd, which was pretty loud and talky all night, was mostly silent during that song. My second was a cover of Never Tear Us Apart by INXS. I buggered up the solo, but I knew I would, so just tried to be zen about it. I also got a compliment on my voice.
I didn't hate the whole thing, which pleases me. I was still quite nervous and was happy when it was over, but not totally, you know what I mean?
I need to perform more regularly. I like it, I want it to be a part of my life, I want to do it well.
The day before I decided I wanted an electric uke. I went to the Acoustic Music Shop and found a beautiful Hawaiian tenor. After I said I was performing in the Uke Fest, he let me take it for the weekend. So nice!
I'm naming the uke Albert, in honour of Albert Ellis and Albert from Little House on the Prairie.
I got to meet and chat w/ Mathias Kom from the Burning Hell which was lovely.
I'm so proud of myself for getting my nervousness under control and performing by myself. Yay, me.
I'm getting a cold, I think.
