Category: Dreams and the Supernatural
Hi.

Oliver here, speaking for Vegetable. We thought you might like to know what we have been up to...well the world is changing and times are tough, gas prices are up and stocks are down and what this has to do with Vegetable, well no body knows, but it is all supposedly connected. Isn't that cosmic?

Fuck yeah it is.

So...we've played some shows in Kansas and there were some gigantic fires in California but there are always fires in California. So California burns while we practice in our very own sweat lodge. It is fucking hot. Fucking hot. But at least we have a place to practice where the neighbors don't complain. The cops can't touch us (knock on wood). All this practice had rendered some new songs. Two new titles are "Tourist Trap" and "Duke's Orgy". (I'd like to hear what your imagination does with those words when you are alone at night.) So that gives us about 20 original songs, many still need some kinks worked out but that's the nature of the beast.

Work, work, work...and what are we working towards? Well since we have about two albums worth of unrecorded material we are currently pondering the recoding situation. I confess it is a bit confusing. So many choices, so many variables, so many opinions. As always there are time restraints and money restraints. Vegetable's story is a timeless one, maybe even a Jungian archetype. So for all intents and purposes we'll try keep you updated from now on, if not for anything other reason but posterity. I promise. -O

Vegetable bids you good evening.

Today I canvased the town with hand made flyers from Vegetable's kindergarden class made. Vegetable wrote GUSE w/ VEGETABLE @ THE REPLAY LOUNGE, TUESDAY AUGUST 5th in big black marker on construction paper and then we let the kids at them. Ah the scribbles and the stencils and innocent bursts of chaotic creativity. One child drew a kitty filled with pee, urinating on our name. Another made a cloud with a lightning bolts, another circled all the E's, while his brother drew a dinosaur and ruined the outline with jagged lines. Then there were the mates of pure multiple colors where they just bunched up a fist full of crayons and ran them up and town, to the side or just in big bright circles, while screaming NOOOOOO or YEAAAAAAAA depending on the time of the day. In the morning it was all smiles, then lunch, PB&J for them all, and off to our Sweet Sweatshop just in time for the sun to beat down on the hot tin roof. You cannot imagine the smell of joy that filled their eyes when they began shitting their pants. Anyway that about all the imagination this Vegetable has for the day. Peace be with you. -O

Vegetable Frachise soon to gain stock. Pracitce in the Sweat Lodge was a dripper on thurday. Short and to the point. Fortunate Cookie was a Third Level dream. The cadence at the end just would not stop and we eventually went back into the chorus, slowly disentigratin into quarter notes, half notes and hole notes, falling apart at the finish like broken machinery, then Bane began playing the intro to Duke's Orgy and we went into that song. Nice transition. A little rough, but copasetic. Much fun. The set is ready for Tueday with Guse at the Replay. -O

Yes, yes, yes Vegetable had a most excellent gig last Tuesday at the Replay lounge. Guse! invited us to open for them. They rock! Though there is some sad news. Lewis, their keyboard player has decided to quit the band in order to focus on managing their tours and doing their light shows. The first gig they plan to play with their new line-up (lights included) is at O'Malley's Alley in Manhattan on the 30th of August. Should be a kick arse show. The Canvas is hosting it, Vegetable gets to play too AND its going to be a busy night in Aggieville, being that there will be a football game that day. Plus, there will be a full moon that night so the Wolfman is bound to make an appearance at some point in the evening.

In related news, the third annual Deadwood Derby, in which Vegetable performs, is up to be viewed on Lawrence.com. Just look for the Turnpike Icon and follow the prompts.

Keep growing at that light,
-O
