''LOCAL RAPPER TO DROP EP ''by Jeff Sandman Wednesday, Nov.11,2009

TRAVERSE CITY- It might have been only a few months ago when many gathered to hear the new release of local rapper B Jenkins, CD, ‘’Talk Of My City,’’ but he is back again in the limelight with a new extended play album entitled ‘’Second Dates Are Lovely.’’ The new album is scheduled to drop at a release party at 9 p.m on Wednesday, Nov. 25 at The Terminal in Traverse City.

The five track EP is a little different from his previous work. Although he still uses some complicated rhyme schemes, the tone of this new album is much softer and kinder.

‘’Any guy can grab a microphone curse and brag, but I wanted to go in a new direction,’’ said Jenkins of his clean emotionally charged EP, ’’I Found myself being bored with some of today’s rap music, There is so much repetition and very little substance.’’

The album was inspired by a girl (Linsey Dawson) that he was very fond of, but blew his chances with her, due to trying to play off his persona portrayed in his last album. This girl and he are still friends, but their relationship is platonic, according to Jenkins.

‘’I am just trying to clear the negativity and be myself. I want to be a good role model for the kids, which I wasn’t doing a great job of before,’’ said Jenkins, who finds this move to be a sign that he’s growing up.

Jenkins has found himself making connections and getting booked for bigger gigis, which has forced him to team up with Keith Zielinksi, 2003 graduate of Onekama High School, to manage him. Zielinski also manages King Jaazy who has performed with Jenkins. He also working with engineer Cody Stephenson in Marquette smoothing out his sound.

To promote the new EP, Jenkins will be creating a new video for one of the singles, which he hopes will be able to get air time on television, the internet and radio with the more media- friendly songs.
