Forrest "Whyte Cloud" Fisher, sound familiar?. Well if you followed the 2004 And1 Mixtape tour it should. With all round game and one of the deadliest shots in America "White Cloud" returns to the streetball scence and is ready to make his mark. Find out what he's been up to in an exclusive interview I did with him.
B.T: First up I want to congratulate you on making it in the building again in Raleigh NC, you've been gone for a minute now and its good to see you back on the streetball scene. Whyte Cloud: Thanks, I really appreciate it. No matter how much I here that it's always like it's the first time. Its especially great when all the kids are swarming me asking for autographs and pictures, I believe that's the best part, cause kids can't interact with NBA players like that, it gives me a sense of pride and makes me feel like I'm doing something.
B.T: So what have you been up to since we last saw you on ESPN back in 2004? Whyte Cloud: Since then I've been in the Marine Corps. Just after I got back from the tour I left to go to boot camp. Nobody is ever happy to get voted off but it came at a good time, what most people dont know is that I had just healed from breaking my foot for a second time, i wasnt completely healed then. I couldnt move or jump like i wanted too. Other than the 5 months after joining all my time outside of work is dedicated to ball. I am stationed at MCAS Cherry Point in North Carolina. I play on the base team which is comprised of mostly guys who played college ball, I lead the team in scoring at about 35 a game and assists at about 8 a game. I'm also playing on the All-Marine team which is the best 12 players in the marines. i'm the leading scorer for them and i'm considered the best player in the marines. I also play for the All-Armed Forces team which is the best 12 players in all the military services. Right now we travel almost every weekend to tournaments and we win most (thats with the base team).
B.T: The whole Raleigh experience, what was that like and how did you think you played? Whyte Cloud: It was a lot of fun. I hadnt talked to Mike since he wanted me to go on the winter tour in 2004, which i couldn't because of military obligations, but he recognized me right when i showed up. The open run wasnt that great, though, there were a few good players but not many, I was disappointed. I had a few dunks and some nice passes in the open run. Not to be cocky but i new i was going to make it in the building before i got down there, it wasnt a surprise to me. Once in the building it was fast and overwhelming, i mean, once they select you its interview after interview and pictures and promotions, its all good but you dont get a chance to breathe until the game starts. I just want to play ball i dont care to much for all the political stuff that goes on, although i do understand why. The game was off da chain though, it was an elimination game though for four contract players, from what i saw i would have cut two of them, the only ones that should stay is circus and springs. Other players dont get as much clock during an elimination game. I got in and did my thing though, i hit like 5 or 6 threes had a couple of buckets. There was a spurt of about 2 or 3 minutes where we were just going back and forth and the crowds oohs and ahs were getting louder with each trip, it started with 2 of my threes and ended with and oop i threw to hometown kid which he caught over somebody. I wasn't worried about getting picked up, the way i feel is the And1 team needs a shooter with range. I can do a lot of other stuff, the dribbling, passing, and dunking, but im just being me, which is original. I am the best shooter in america, right now, nobody can prove me different. I had a game the other night that i hit 5 threes from the half court circle. And1 always finished with dunks, they also need someone for the guards to pass the ball to to finish there crowd hyping moves with a deep three. Oh yeah and helicopter was back home and he did some sick dunks, he dunked on like 5 or 6 people that game, it was nasty.
B.T: Going back a bit now to the 2004 tour. You were picked up in Oklahoma and played in a few citys, tell us about your experience and was it was like being on the bus? Whyte Cloud: It was a wonderful experience. I got to play in some great cities, Philly, New York, Providence, and Cleveland. The competition out there was great. we had 2-3 days in between games and i would just find a local park and bust some ass. All i wanted to do was play ball, didnt care to much for partying all the time. It could have been better but I wasnt at 100%. I was just coming off a broken foot for the second time in 2 years. In NY everyone went to rucker, but i left early that morning and went to west 4th. I was out there from 9am to 6pm, we started playing around 12, and i stayed on the court the whole time, never lost a game. I just tried to see as much as I could cause I had never been on the east coast before.
B.T: I hear you have a mixtape coming out, What can we expect from that? Whyte Cloud: It will have a little bit of everything, streetball, real ball, interviews music, the works. It will be mostly ballers that are in the military. I'm also going to put new artists on there that are in the military. Trying to appeal to a crowd that doesnt have anything like this. Anything i can do to make a little money cause the military doesnt pay that well. Gotta support my family yo. It might not be complete until january because we have some major tournaments between now and then. Also, we have the all armed forces team, we go to germany in dec, I want to get footage of that tournament on it. But it will be hot, best believe that.
B.T: So what are your plans when you get out of the Marines. Semi Pro, Overseas, next years And1 contract? Whyte Cloud: Im not sure yet. I've got offers to many different teams here in the states and overseas. If I make the And1 squad I'll roll with that. I really dont care as long as im playing ball and i can take care of my family. I'm gonna use the exposure I get with And1 to get me as many tryouts as possible, I would like to get a shot at the league, i would be a great shooter there. If I dont make it there its not a big deal, I would rather be in a situation where i can be closer to the kids and fans, thats the best part of it.
B.T: Any last words?Whyte Cloud: Watch for me, WHYTE CLOUD "best shooter in america, hands down" I'm about to blow up real big and i appreciate the support of the fans, ballers, streetballers, wannabes. Im just here to rep for them all. Website and mixtape will be out soon and will be posted. Until then keep in touch, drop me an email let me know whats good, whytecloud_7@yahoo.com. Fa sho
