If you are from the east coast, meaning PA and on east, the ship has long sailed from the harbor shores at Musiqtone.com.  But if you're from anywhere but that part of the US, better read:

Do you like discovering new music and then promoting them? Would you like a chance to interview face to face with some of the biggest names in music? How'd you like to review an album well before your friends see them in stores or on iTunes? How would you like to write for a rising music news & media website?!

YOU CAN INDEED. Musiqtone.com, a music news & media site that covers the mainstream, indie and the underground are still looking for music fans from all over the country (well, excluding the east coast, we got plenty of peeps there) who would love the opportunity to write and promote all kinds of music talent. Here's a little self-written Q&A to answer some of your questions...

Q: I'm a horrible writer!
A: With apologies to the fine folks who write at mags such as Rolling Stone or Blender, you can't possibly write any worse than some of the people they hire there, some with actual journalism degrees. The site gives on the job teaching on how to write an above-decent review or how to craft questions for interviews according to the writer. We'll make you a half-decent writer...

Q: What's the time commitment?
A: Whatever you want it to be. The commitment is based on your schedule as long as the lines of communication is open. So if you take a concert review op and you have something unexpected that takes you away from it, you need to take the steps necessary to let us know!

Q: Do I get paid?
A: If I had the ability to pay myself and the staff, I wouldn't be anywhere close to Chicago. In fact, I'm writing this in a computer lab I supervise 5 days a week with no benefits and low pay. But you'll get the chance to get free albums to review and/or check out, the occasional media kit hawking a music act, the chance to talk to some of the biggest names in music in person or over the phone. And, of course making your friends really really really jealous that you can! :-D

Q: What are you looking for?
A: Enthusiastic music fans who can keep an open mind because I do make everyone do at least one project involving an indie/unknown act. Most of the peeps here who ordinarily don't check out such acts before coming here end up wanting to check out such acts after doing one indie project. There is nothing more satisfying and fulfilling than knowing you helped an indie act get on its way to the top.

In any case, geographically...we are looking for one or two in the Chicago area, one more in LA, one in the West Coast (except California), and one in the South/Southeast. That should about cover our bases around the country.

If you're interested in snagging a spot on staff, please go to http://musiqtone.com/aboutus/jobs.php and fill out the app and I should get it within a day or two.
