Current mood: stoked Category: Friends
Last night was an amazing night for The Loups, I'm going to take a minute to lay the story out like it happened for me. So earlier last week we got a friend request from John Connolly's myspace site, basically saying that he bought the CD, said he HAD to buy it because he was so intrigued by the band name and EP title, and asked if it might have had something to do with his book "The Book of Lost Things". At first I wasn't sure if this was for real or if it was coming from a fan site but I accepted his friend request, and messaged back saying that the book was a huge inspiration for me at least, and that I even got the other band mates to read it, all of them loved the book as well. And told John that I was very excited that he found the CD and to let me know what he thought. For those of you not familiar with John, he's from Dublin Ireland, so I assumed he heard about us online or through myspace and bought it off the BullMoose website link, seemed like the obvious scenario. But to my surprise John has history with Portland and happened to be in Maine, he was browsing through the Portland BullMoose store and actually came across it that way(which is freakin' amazing to me). He had asked if we were playing any shows soon cause he is going back to Ireland soon, and really wanted to see us play. Only thing we had going was our WCYY thing, so we invited him to come along, ended up having a great dinner with him at Bangkok Garden with me, Shannon (my wife), Trav and Micah and then headed to Portland to do the interview, couldn't have gone any better, Mark was awesome as usual, John had only nice things to say about us and then after we all headed to the Dog Fish and drank the night away. John turned out to be a real stand up guy, I am honoured to have met him, and am glad we can call him a friend of the Loups. It seems like we will be in touch with him going into the future and I look forward to spending more time with him and his family. We talked about sending stuff back and forth so hopefully The Loups get some exposure in Ireland..lol. For anyone who isn't familiar with his books, I recommend going out and getting "The Book of Lost Things" and then moving on to his other work, he's an amazing author and person and deserves all the credit he gets. I love the fact that he seemed as excited to meet all of us as we were to meet him, and by the end of the night it seemed like we were all old mates joking around and having a great time. There is so much more I could write but that'll have to wait for another time..
