V i s u a l A r t M u s i c . . .

On-going in my work is a 'song series' of large format, highly abstract, and erotically tinged landscape drawings and paintings inspired by music. The song tempo, mood, etc., effect the visual work, it develops intuitively, and representational elements are derived from fluid abstractions. Musical expression becomes expression of line like a dance over the paper... Recently, I've been repeatedly listening to an experimental song I created on guitar and drawing to it. Each work is titled after the title of my song played while creating the visual. The two art forms are elastically one in this process...

While music and visual art are two very different art forms, they can have a striking influence on each other. Viewing a painting can inspire music just as, music can inspire a painting or images. The guitar can be my paintbrush — guitar strings 'sing' inspiring images: violet clouds highlighted in silhoette by the moon; patches of still moon blooms glow blue-violet on the lunar surface... Music is tremendous passion...

Wayne
