02/23/09: Winchester, I
want you to think of yourself real long and hard. Now, I want you to
think back to the 2Pac song/video, California Love. NOW I want you to
think of the part where the effects laden voice over pumps in, singing,
"California, knows how to paaaaarty...." and I want you to replace
California with Winchester. And repeat.
Sometimes I feel like the world is telling me that I'm on the right track. I definitely felt the love in Winchester for the
Hey Bro! Productions led
St. Valentine's Dub Massacre. Featuring One.Man.And,
KJ Sawka and
Chronicles of the Landsquid, Valentine's Day at the
Virginia Brewing Companywas one for the books. We sold several prints and three painting,
including one created that evening (hopefully we'll get a picture of it
soon...my camera's flash has dedicded to die for whatever reason). I
really can't thank you guys enough for an amazing night of music, art
and new friends...thanks a bunch to Hey Bro! for everything they do. I
got a chance to talk with KJ Sawka for a minute as well so that was
pretty cool. This guy is an amazing drummer. I'm glad I've gotten to
see him perform a few times over the last year.
We'll definitely be back at the VBC for a few shows in April and beyond...be on the lookout!
Here's
one that I created that night...it was a continued canvas...one that I
had worked on at Stonehenge Music Festival last summer but I felt
wasn't complete.

One Man's Every Day Love: Painted live to One.Man.And and KJ Sawka on 02/14/09 @ The Virginia Brewing Company for the St. Valentine's Dub Massacre
24x36
$500
The following night found me in Baltimore, MD for
Basshound's tour closing show at the
8x10.
I brought up a canvas that I started at IS in Charlottesville the prior
Thursday. I hadn't finished it because the party got the best of me on
this particular evening. Amusingly enough, I jumped up on stage that
night and added some interesting flavor to one of Basshound's tunes
(much to the amusement of the band and bemusement of myself the next
day).

This was my second stop at the legendary
8x10 and
I have to say I really enjoyed seeing the guys in their native setting.
I plan on sending the owner of the club a print from the night if I
ever get it captured. Along with
Data Frogs and
Jazzam, Basshound put on the night in style to a packed room, bouncing floor and all.
Here's the painting I worked up during Jazzam and Data Frogs

Funk Box Jazz Frog: painted live to Jazzam and Data Frogs on 02/15/09 at The 8x10, Baltimore, MD

$300
And here's what was worked up for the Basshound set, started on Thursday 02/12/09 and completed on 02/15/09

So what's next? This weekend finds us back in Richmond, VA at the Canal Club for another
EQ Produktionsthrowdown. I'm happy to say that I'm forging a nice relationship with
these guys and they continue to put on AMAZING shows in the Richmond
area. They evoke echoes of a goneby era at The Flood Zone, when you
could hit up a raging punk show for less money than it takes to buy a
pack of cigarettes these days (so I hear). The vibe is the same. A
group of fans and promoters that are trying to bring their favorite
music to their home spot. And that music happens to be edgy,
underground and somewhat shared within a certain subculture.

Please
contact me if you want a matted and framed print of the painting Beat
Home Bass which I created to Orchard Lounge at the Canal Club the last
time around. They'll be going for $60. You can always tell me to have
certain prints ready for you as well...it helps me be ready with the
right merch, plus, I love talking to you!
So....what's next...OH YEAH!!! I'm painting with
The Heavy Pets@ The Tribeca (in the Omni), Newport News, VA on 03/07/09, post Phish.
So please be on the lookout for me there. I think I'll have to work up
a pretty nice one for this particular evening. Feel free to contact me
to commission this one of a kind live, performance painting which will
definitely mark a piece of history in the books for me.
Speaking of Phish...I seem to have worked up a little triptych for
the three nights at Hampton! I take these canvases to the photo shop
tomorrow for capturing. I'll have costs available soon (as soon as I
get the images and take them to the printers).
Please let me know if you'd like to pre-order any of the posters
individually or as a triptych. These will be printed in a limited
number for each night, signed and number to commemorate this historic
reunion!
AND WE STILL NEED HAMPTON TICKETS!! IF ANYONE KNOWS OF ANY, PLEASE LET US KNOW!! WE NEED 2 FOR EACH NIGHT!
(k thx!)

So there it is, folks! My March schedule is listed below...hope we see you at a show soon!!!
