THE FORGOTTEN s/t
San Jose punk vets the Forgotten return here with their first release in six years & they come swinging for the fences! 14 songs of catchy but very powerful streetpunk & oi including a great cover of GBH’s "Knife Edge". Some pretty cool lyrics throughout as well, with my favorites being "Poison Tongue" & "American Dreams". The Forgotten at times sound a lot like some of Rancid’s better efforts, but when you consider that a few band members double as Lars Fredericksen’s Bastards, it makes perfect sense. Lars does return the favor by playing on a few tunes here. "We Got The Numbers" is one of those songs that is pretty much an instant punk rock classic with a great riff & a memorable sing along chorus, "If The Kids Are United" for a new generation. Overall, a really fantastic release from the Forgotten, ten out of ten on this one. (Www.tkorecords.com) JRM
