In honor of Valentine's Day, I've created a list of what I
consider inexpensive-but-romantic gifts for your valentine. After all, the only
thing that would hurt worse than heartbreak is that look your date will give
you when you need to go Dutch on your fancy candlelit dinner for two.
- Cook her dinner. An
old-y but a good-y. It's cheaper than a dinner out, and doesn't require
the 2-hour wait and steep bill. I would rather have a girl cook me
dinner any day- it requires more thought and planning. You pick her
favorite foods, it shows you listen (who doesn't love a listener?). - Spa
day. Sounds expensive, but hear me out. Draw her a bubble bath. Play some tranquil
music and drink some bubbly. Heat the towels in the dryer right before she
gets out. Give her a massage. Ahh relaxation. - Rent
the movie you went to when you first started dating. Sappy but good. Buy
her favorite movie munchies for extra brownie points (or red licorice
points lol). - Detail
her car. Huh? Oh yes. Believe me. I washed, vacuumed, waxed, and polished
my valentine's car once, and she was beyond thrilled. Takes about an hour,
but nothing says love like manual labor lol.
I guess what my list is suggesting is that we should all
replace the money we're mindlessly spending with a little time, effort, and
thought! Nothing like a recession to inspire romance lol! MM
