Here are the concerts I went to in June

Swervedriver/Lonewave/Terra Diablo

I saw Swervedriver. I went in and saw Adam Franklin (the singer) talking with the merch girl. I briefly talked with him but then I had to get dinner before the concert started. I came back about 10 minutes before the first band came on. The first band was a Scottish band called Terra Diablo. They are managed by the drummer of Swerverdriver and are doing the whole tour with them. They were pretty good. My favorite song that they did was a cover of The Beatles' Tomorrow Never Knows. It is funny because about a month earlier I saw Helio Sequence do a covor of the same song. After their set I told the band that Helio Sequence also do that cover. They said that they have never heard of Helio Sequence before. The naxt band was Longwave. They are a NYC band that got a bit of hype in 2003 when they released their debut album. I liked them they did songs from all their albums. I knew the songs Tidal Wave, Everywhere You Turn and Wake Me When its Over. I moved up for Swervedriver. They were so good. They are a perfect shoegaze band. They did songs such as Duel, Sandblast, Rave Down, Never Lose That Feeling Son of Mustang Ford, and For Seeking Heat. For an encore they played Last Train to Satansville which for me was the best moment of the night. I got the set list and some pics which I will post at some time.

The Hold Steady/Aberdeen City

I saw The Hold Steady and Aberdeen City. It was a free concert. I am kind of surprised it was free because it was so good. Boston band Aberdeen City were up first. I've seen them one other time 2 years ago. They played songs from their debut album "The Freezing Atlantic" as well as new songs which will be on their next album. I liked when they played "Another Seven Years" which is my favorite song by them. There have been break up rumors surrounding them lately but those rumors are false. The headline The Hold Steady are touring in support of their new album "Stay Positive" which is due out next month. They are a very fun band to watch. They look like they have a great time on stage. For some of the songs it sounds like singer Craig Finn is just talking over music and telling a story. They jump around a bit and incite the crowd to clap and sing along. They played both old songs and new songs. My faves by them are "Chips Ahoy", and "Your Little Hoodrat Friend". They played 3 songs during their encore.

The Black Angels/The Warlocks

The best concert and billing of the summer was on Sunday. THE BLACK ANGELS AND THE WARLOCKS!! I went in and I saw Nate and this guy who kinda looked a little like him at the merch table. It was Nate's younger brother. I said "hello". Nate thanked me for the birthday message I sent him on myspace. We were talking for a bit and then Christian came over. I was talking to Christian and Nate for a while about different stuff. I don't really need to go into detail about that. Alex came over and he greeted me by giving me a hug like he has the last few time I have seen him. The Warlocks were the first band to play. They are very good. They had two less members than the last time I saw them. They played songs both old and new. I really wanted them to play Baby Blue but they didn't. I waved to Stephanie and Kyle while The Warlocks were playing but I couldn't really talk to them because it was loud. I moved up front and watched The Black Angels set up. I was very anxious for them to go on. They started with Manipulation which is one of my favorite songs on Passover. They also played songs such as You on the Run, Black Grease, Sniper at the Gates of Heaven, Young Men Dead, Dee-ree-shee, Science Killer, Vikings and Never/Ever. During the two song encore they player Bloodhounds on My Trail and You in Color. I just miss the fact that Jennifer is not in the band anymore. I liked her because she is nice and she's a great keyboard player. I ended up getting The Warlocks setlist. Afterwards I talked to Stephanie and Nate outside for a bit. I wanted to go back in and say bye to the other guys but they wouldn't let me back in so Stephanie gave me her wristband. I still have her wristband. I then had to go so I yelled bye and left.
