thesixtyone.com is partnering with the Guitar Center Music Foundation to produce "Band Together for Music Education."

Thesixtyone has agreed to host a site-wide contest that will help determine this year's tracklist while providing emerging artists a unique opportunity to showcase their music for a very worthy cause. This year's benefit will focus on the Guitar Center Music Foundation's mission to provide funding and resources for music programs so that children and adults alike will have an opportunity to experience the joys of music. With the public's help, GCMF hopes to make a difference in people's lives by providing them a gift that lasts a lifetime! The contest began on September 1, 2008 and ends on September 30, 2008. Come November, these bands will be forwarded to a celebrity panel that will decide the final album roster. The judging panel will include three artists:

Jeff Alulis, filmmaker/former singer for Dead Kennedys
Kina Grannis, singer/songwriter (Winner, Doritos Crash The Superbowl Contest)
Terra Naomi, singer/songwriter (Inaugural Winner, YouTube Music Award for "Say It's Possible")

How to Enter

Log into your artist account on thesixtyone.com and click the "submit to contest" link for each song you'd like to enter into the contest.
