Category: Religion and Philosophy
The debate on Prop 8 reared its ugly head again.

I am an atheist.

I don't care what you believe in, and I won't force my views on you. But if you will keep judging others, I will most certainly be the first to point out that you should look in the mirror.

Here is my view and let me make this loud and clear to all you bigots out there:

"If you don't believe in gay marriage, don't be gay and don't get married! But butt out of someone else's life!"

I am not going to apologize for calling people bigots. I left the Mormon church and you should have heard what I told the sisters and the elders when I said they were bigots and very un American.

The best they could come up with was "Are you a lesbian?"

"No, I'm not." I replied.

"Then why do you care if they get married?" They tried.

"I can ask you bigots the same thing. Why do YOU care?"

I am just in awe of the level of intolerance from self righteous Christians (I am including Catholics, Mormons, Jews and Muslims in the Christian foundation because they believe in the same God.)

Religions can't even get along with each other, who was I to think that they would even live a Christian lifestyle and learn to not judge others and butt out? Religion is not even mentioned in the Bible, yet Catholics and Christians alike have told me why one is "more real" that the other.

This country was not founded on Christian beliefs, people came here to escape religious persecution. The only people who think that are the ones that haven't picked up a history book, and probably pick up a Bible and think it's considered history.

Here's a newsflash: Virgin Mary was just a horny 16 year old teenager. She got pregnant and lied. Girls are like that. Think about the taboo it was in the early 1900's to have a child out of wedlock. Now imagine how it must have been 2,000 years ago. She lied and you believed her. Remember Ashely Todd?

If you believe virgins can get pregnant, I can see how the talking snake makes sense.

But hey, if you want a real Godly nation, move to Israel. I'm sure it's nothing but love, flowers and God over there. What can possibly go wrong?

Next time you start an argument with "but it's in the Bible," I will respond and say "well, according to my Harry Potter book......"

Go ahead and believe what you want, but you might want to worry about living your own life before you judge someone else's.

I'll stop pointing out the hypocrisy if you stop living yours.

Cheers!

I will say my life and beliefs stand on Christian beliefs! I am not into organized religion though!! There is a lot of hipocrasy I agree!!! I do believe in the bible but I also believe that it was interpreted by man! There is a lot of things that were left out that are in the dead sea scrolls! I believe that King James really just wanted to put the good together and left out the bad parts of history! I believe that which is in there but I do believe there is more! I also believe that I must rely on my faith to help me understand what is not printed! Most of the bible is metaphors! It is all up to interpretation! That is what people don't realize! I also agree that we are not to judge anyone! Homosexuality in the bible even says that it is no greater sin than lies, fornication or adultery! We are all held accountable for our own actions! Biblical or not, there is an effect to every cause! I just pray that the decisions I make in this world make my life better!

I would rather have faith in my life that there is a God and later be proved wrong than to not have faith and find out there is a GOD!

Thanks for posting!! I hate judging bigotry too!

Interesting view. You have the freedom of choice to believe what you wish, that also is in the Bible.

You know my real problem with Gay's, is that they want other people to be gay, they are forcing their gay agenda on everyone else. I could care less if someone gets married, except they have to make such a big deal out of it. Besides, they cant have kids.

You left the Mormon church?? Good Choice. I wouldn't want to be part of that false religion either.

I know what the real truth is about God, so I can not be swayed in either direction. How did I learn, I researched for years and years and years. I looked at evolution, and its not possible to have evolved from a monkey, which in turn evolved from something else which first evolved from a non life existence of a rock. You see, it takes life to create life, that is the fact. So when they talk about evolution, well its simply impossible.

So if evolution is impossible, what else is there?? We came from someplace, but where?? Outer space?? Not possible, nothing could live long enough to get here even at 10 times the speed of light nothing could live that long and bring humans here to earth. Humans cant live that long for sure.

So if not evolution, and if not outer space, what else is there?? We must have been created just like the Bible says. So then if we research what the Bible says, there must be some flaw in it, where we can prove it to be wrong. Problem is, we cant, everything in the Bible from History to Medical facts has been proven correct. The Real Greek and Hebrew texts tell about medical facts that today's doctors are just figuring out to be real. They contain Historical Facts that are being found every year.

Therefore if Evolution and Outer Space are incorrect, and the Bible is Forever true, what is a person to believe?????? Now I grant you that there are false religions out there like the Mormons and the Jahova's witnesses and the Muslims.... And I also grant you that many churches are filled with Hypocrisy. But there are a few who know the truth and follow the truth, because the truth has been proven by Science to be accurate. When all else fails, one must follow the truth because as they say "The Truth Will Set You Free.
"

If you are ever ready to have a non Hippocratic discussion about finding the truth, I can point you in the direction to look. I will never try to convince you, yet I will ask that you come to your own decision as you very well should.

I can see you have a bad taste in your soul for religion and that the Mormon church put it there, that could drive anyone to be an atheist. And even though I have no right to ask anything from you, I am going to ask of you one thing, which is to never stop looking for the truth. You just might be surprised at what you find out.

Think of it this way, if there is No God but I live a Godly life full of love and compassion and discipline, I have lived a good life before I sleep forever. However if there is a God and He did create the universe and His book is correct (because face it, if a God created everything, I am sure He is smart enough to get His book right) and even though I am a sinner but I had the faith to believe that He and His Son and the Holy Spirit love me and guide my path to a life that ends up in Paradise or Heaven, at least after I am gone from this earth I will not end up in Hades or what some call Hell.
Of course I am only talking about me, I am not the one to judge others that is the job of God, if there is in deed a God, right?

Either way, take this with you. A closed minded person will never find the real truth, but an open minded person will always keep searching for the facts to determine the real Truth. I have learned a lot in my quest for the truth, but I have so much more to learn, and the more I learn the more I find out that I really know very little.

Be Blessed even if you dont believe in blessings.

I think you proved my point about religious people talking about how other religions are false.

Your argument is moot for the mere fact that you think Mormons are not following a real religion.

Gays do not want everyone to be gay. All they want is the right to marry.

If anything, you are trying to push your religious agenda when I already said it's not for me.

By the way, I was a hard core Christian before I became a Mormon, but religion is for the weak minded.

You are more than entitled to your opinion, I respect that.

Here is why I think Gays and Hollywood is trying to make it seem OK to be gay. In the last 10 years you see more and more gay people on TV. Almost every program on television today on the major networks is pushing some sort of homosexuality on their shows. It just seems to me that the gays want more people to accept the fact that gay is ok. I do not agree that gay is ok, but thats my opinion and just as you are entitled to yours, I am entitled to mine also.

As far as the mormons are concerned its an easy question. Ask any mormon this question. "If I believe in the Jesus (Yahshua) of the Bible, and follow Him and give my life to Him, will I go to heaven??" Their answer is always YES. Then you ask, then why do I need the book or Mormon? Answer is You dont.

They also teach that Jesus and Satan are brothers. They teach that if your really good on earth that once you go to heaven you will get to be a god and rule your own planet.

Hard Core Christian???? Whats that??? Well I agree that Religion is what Jesus (Yahshua His Real Name) talked about getting rid of. But He also talked about Faith and how we should have it.

Its interesting that your friend above said some of the same things I did, yet you told him that many have a lot to learn from him. I tried my best not to offend you in my first post, I tried to make sure you knew I was not judging you in any way shape or form. Nor will I judge you, you have your freedom of choice that I respect. Last thing I want to do is argue with you, I just simply asked if you would keep an open mind. I apologize if you took offense to that.

I have much of the scientific proof to prove the Bible accurate from Noah forward. Locations of places mentioned in the Bible, Medical Facts, Food Facts, all these things that Moses wrote about back some 3300 years ago. Considering his birth was about 3400 years ago and given that he lived to 120 he would have written those books in the last 40 years of his life.

Where then did Moses (Moshe) get this information that is so accurate today if it was not given to him by Holy Spirit? Could it have been passed down in stories from his family? No, he was raised an Egyptian. Why is it that we have found Noah's Ark, 12 miles south west of Mt Ararat in the country of Turkey. A boat shaped object, man made, the exact dimensions of which is described in the Bible. Or how bout the cities rained down of Sulfur that we have found in the locations mentioned by the Bible. Cities that are no where near any volcano of any type that were burnt to dust and ash buildings still in tact. Or how bout the description of the Red Sea Crossing which is in the golf of aqaba. With pillars erected on either side dedicating the spot marked years later by King David as the place of the crossing. Just a few miles in from the crossing site, there stands a mountain with unexplained burnt marks all over the top of them and a very large rock that shows it at one time had water flowing from it. Its all there, its all been found, its all real. Fact not Fiction. Nothing produced out of hollywood, just raw film and documentation. Its been on 20/20 and other television shows, perhaps you missed it.

Look it up, I am not lying to you, its all fact.
Where did all this stuff come from that Moshe wrote about? How did it just appear, was it magic? or divine intervention of some type?

Why is it that in the golf of aqaba there is a path lined with chariot parts and human remains and horse hooves and gold lined chariot wheels the exact same as found in egypt? Where did this stuff come from? Its all there, today, right now as I type this.
You may think of all this stuff as a myth, but if its a myth, why is it there? Why has it been scientifically proven to exist?

All the medical information in the Bible. One example is to have your baby boy circumcised on his 8th day after birth. Medically proven that... here I will show you,

On the eighth day, the amount of prothrombin present actually is elevated above one-hundred percent of normal—and is the only day in the male’s life in which this will be the case under normal conditions. If surgery is to be performed, day eight is the perfect day to do it. Vitamin K and prothrombin levels are at their peak. The chart below, patterned after one published by S.I. McMillen, M.D., in his book, None of These Diseases, portrays this in graphic form.

How did Moshe know all this stuff??

All I am asking is to keep an open mind and learn all you can about our topic. I dont like religion either, but I do love truth and I have set out to research and find errors in the Bible yet, after years of study, I havent found one yet. When I say Bible, I hope you understand I am looking at Greek, Hebrew and direct translations into English. And yes I agree with your friend there are things missing that were found in the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Catholic Church is keeping it from the world, hidden away for no one to see.

I have no facts to base this upon, only my opinion, but the Catholic Church has kept the dead sea scrolls hidden away because if they were given to the public it would crush their religion. Just my opinion like I said.

You have a wonderful day and in all you do, be open to learn more about truth.

Your Friend

That is the most ignorant thing I have ever read, and I read a lot!

Not long ago, African Americans were not portrayed on television.

Now, there are portrayed in most shows.

That doesn't mean Hollywood is trying to make you black.

I studied theology.....you should too. You sound like the annoying "know it all" and you are telling me to be open minded, but you don't see the hypocrisy of your self righteous post.

Your opinion doesn't counts as proof that there is a god.

Try again.

and ask yourself, what do you have to search for if you "have the whole truth about God?"

If you did have the whole truth about God, you would be God.
If you were God, you would

know that homosexuals do not make a choice about being who they are.
The only choice they

have is to stay in the closet and hate themselves, or to come out and be proud of who they

are. And yes, what you said about gays on T.V.
made me laugh! You could have been

Archie Bunker 35 years ago! People said the exact same things about all the "Black people

on commercials.
" And then they got really upset when they put Blacks and Whites together

as couples in daytime soap opera! Oh my! What is the world coming to--now they are pushing

mixed marriages and that is against God's will! It's obvious you do have a lot of searching

to do, I hope you will get right on that, but get a sound definition of open mindedness first!

Good blog Elidet! ~Teresa

I didnt say I knew everything about God, I just simply said I believe I know the truth. I do continued research because I want to know more.

If your spouse or best friend wrote a book and you wanted to know more about that person, would you read that book?? If you saw some things in that book and thought them unbelieveable, would you research them to see if its fact of fiction?

Well I research to find fact or fiction. From Noah forward, we have found overwhelming facts to verify what the Bible says. I just thought I would share.

In the case of Prop 8, well I am allowed my opinion that Gay's dont need special rights. They say that they want equal rights, however when given equal rights, they still complain and want more. I think, my opinion that if the Bible is proven right, and it says that when a man sleeps with another man like he would a woman its an abomination to the Lord, well I take that seriously enough to believe it.

Each of us are entitled to our opinion, well we saw the vote, Prop 8 lost, get over it. Move On. The People of California have spoken. Stop complaining.

Look, you are allowed to believe in fairy tales, but once your warped beliefs involve the rights of SOMEONE ELSE, sorry, I need to draw the line.

You do realize marriage is not a religious institution, right? Marriage preceded Christianity by thousands of years.

Christians first try to claim Christmas and now marriage.
What next?

Funny I gave you facts and you called it my opinion.

Its also funny that your calling me an annoying know it all. The first post I said, I have learned much and I have much more to learn. I have tried to be humble with my posts to you. Theology is not fact, its theory. I have mentioned COLD HARD FACTS, not my opinion.

Blacks on tv, well of course not long ago there was a major problem in this country, not to mention the world with people of color. Bruce Lee didnt get the lead roll in the tv show Kung Fu because he looked to Asian. Bigotry is wrong. I never said that gays cant get married. I never said that they cant be gay. I just dont want my kids watching 2 men kiss on tv or visa versa.

Gay people, especially gay men are talented people, very funny many times, very creative. I used to work in an office where there were 8 men, 3 gay, 2 bi and 3 straight married to women men. It was a riot all the time. But the gay men kept asking us straight men why were so happy with our lives, you could see the deep depression in their lives daily. They were confused about their identity. Wanting to believe in God and the Bible, but wanting to dismiss the parts where it said that Homosexuality is an Abomination to the Lord. I lived it, I was there every day for 2 years. My boss was gay, he had the nicest decorated house one could ever see, and yet, he was always depressed. He has Millions, he has tons of friends gay and straight, but still depression sat with him daily. Hard working man he still is. Still a friend of mine also. But when he asked me what I thought about gay people, my answer was, its a sickness. No different than someone who is addicted to porn, or someone addicted to wanting to have sex with children. Its just simply not natural. The body parts do not fit, the depression stems from confusion in ones self, a self guilt that what one is doing is wrong.

He just simply stared at me for like 2 minutes and there was a cold silence, an appifiny of sorts that you could see go through his face. Then He said, ok, go back to work. I still worked there for more than a year before I left the company to start my own company.

I dont know everything, like I have stated before. I questioned everyone when I was in my early 20's and dealt with a lot of confusion about the different religions before someone pointed me in the right direction. Once that happened I was about 32, I found the answers I had been looking for my whole life. Now 12 years later, many nightly hours of research, I know for a fact the things I have found are truth.

Here, take a look.

There are problems with the inclusive-exclusive nature of the gay marriage debate, and it's not merely a problem of religious belief. There are practical matters as well, dealing with the repudiation of family history and that repudiation's impact on probate decisions...

It is my opinion that a civil union granting the same Rights under the Law as marriage would be a big step in the right direction. I support marriage between a man and a woman, and civil unions for Gays and Lesbians. If "Gay Marriage" was forced upon The Church, people in this country would sue in court if a church refused to marry them. Supporting Civil Unions has many people on the Right angry with me, and many people on the Left also. It seems everyone is so passionate over this issue, that common ground cannot be reached. Enjoy your blog. Hope I did not offend you.

There is also a thing called Equal Rights. And don't think there would not be law suits. I still think Civil Unions with all the same Rights as Marriage is the answer. When I heard Elton John make this statement it got me thinking. My Gay and Lesbian friends that I know personally say they agree with me. But, I find on my space it seems to be an all or nothing issue.

Great blog!!! Religion has no place in politics and likewise. I use to write off folk as bigots and homophobes but now I pray for them and kind of feel sorry for them because I know what it means to be trapped in ignorance. One point in my life I to could be called a bigot, but God opened my eyes.
