MPLS GROWN-UP SPELLING BEE

Official Rules

DRINKING, VOMITING, AND FIGHTING
You MUST drink each provided beverage before you may spell another word.  
Extreme inebriation will not exemplify any speller from spelling.  Failure to be on stage or to spell a word correctly for any reason, including drunkenness, will result in automatic disqualification.
Any speller who vomits on an audience member will still be required to spell their given word, unless they can convince the person on whom they vomited to spell for them.
Vomiting on stage while spelling will not exemplify any speller from continuing to spell.  If a speller vomits mid-spelling, speller may re-start at the beginning of the word, but may not leave the stage without completely spelling their word.  Failure to complete the round due to vomiting will result in immediate disqualification.
Any speller who is involved in a fight with another speller will still be required to spell, regardless of injuries received.  Failure to spell on one's turn will result in immediate disqualification.
Any spectator involved in a fight with a speller will be required to spell in place of the speller with whom they are fighting.

    LIGHTNING ROUNDS
Lightning rounds will be announced at random throughout the evening.
Each word will be announced by a judge a total of two times.  
Spellers will have 30 seconds to spell their word or will be disqualified.
Spellers may not request additional information on the word after it has been issued by a judge.

    EMERGENCY ROUND
During the Emergency Round, spellers who have been disqualified in earlier rounds due to misspelling may spell an additional word.  Correct spelling during the Emergency Round gains re-entrance into the Bee.
Spellers who have been disqualified for any reason other than misspelling are not eligible to participate in the Emergency Round.

    UNDERPANTS ROUND
Participation in the Underpants Round is completely optional and does not effect a speller's standing in the Spelling Bee as a whole.
Each Underpants Round speller will have 30 seconds in which to spell their word.  Failure to do so will result in automatic disqualification.
Spellers must wear their OWN underpants.
Girls participating in the Underpants Round may choose whether to bare their top or bottom half.
Underpants should be chosen in good taste.  Keep it PG-13, or the judges have the right to disqualify you.

    SPECTATING
Spectators are encouraged to heckle spellers before and after they receive and spell their word.
Spectators are asked to be respectful of judges and spellers' need for a moderately quiet environment while words are being issued and spelled.
Spectators may not assist spellers in spelling the given word.  Please refrain from shouting out answers to spellers.

    RESPECTING AUTHORITAH
Spellers may not refute any decisions made at any time by the judges or hostess.
Nagging, whining, and argumentative behavior toward the judges and/or hostess is seriously not OK.  Sore losers will not be invited to participate in future Born 2 Spell events.
Born 2 Spell and the 331 Club reserve the right to refuse service and/or participation.
