From live recordings using
the Transparence resonating
dubplate (RF007 - cut by Rashad Becker), OLTRE will be released by LINE/12K in January 2010. Featuring five tracks recorded in Poland, Greece and Italy between March and May 2008, OLTRE documents the degradation and transformation of the dubplate as it is used in an integrated live setup with subsonic feedback from ventilators,
acoustically gated binaural microphones, modal micro-variations in
guitar feedback and field-recordings from across remote areas of Australia. These elements in turn combine to create a field which moves beyond the original recordings
and their individual spaces.
TSÜ (Jörg Maria Zeger: guitar/effects; Robert Curgenven: fieldrecordings/room resonances) will be touring in Germany and
Poland in November and December including two nights of live public recording in Flensburg
(of all places). Located a convenient few kilometres walk from the Danish
border, Flensburg will be hosting TSÜ and Italian duo SEMERSSUAQ (featuring JD Zazie and WJ Meatball from Jealousy Party) where they will play at KKI and
also the Alte Deutsche Bank in the Neustadt for performances that
should provide an interesting backdrop to the usual Schleswig-Holstein yuletide
preparations. They will also be appearing at RAUM18 in Berlin (with SEMERSSUAQ), Lorelei Na Widok
in Warsaw and Mikro Makro
Festival in Slupsk, Poland. Robert Curgenven will also be performing solo at the new Jesusclub in Berlin on 22nd November alongside Brussels-based dancer/choreographer Meg Stuart.
A new
soundtrack to a film by Celia Arias will be shown as part of a “Season of
Jodorowsky” (Spanish filmmaker, director of “Holy Mountain and “Santa Sangre”
among others) In London from 14-21 November at the Panic Exhibition at
The Old Abattoir in Clerkenwell. The soundtrack by TSÜ will be part of a
site-specific installation version of the film “Zeitgeist” following the three
hour private opening on 13th November which is focused around the Panic
Movement collective formed by Fernando Arrabal, Alejandro Jodorowsky and Roland
Topor in Paris, France in 1962.
Recently at Diapason Gallery in New York was
“10ms”, which included a new 8
channel version of “Unsilenced Landscape” (following from the four channel
version shown recently at “17raume+!” at Biorama in Germany in September and
its premiere at CSW (Centre for Contemporary Art) in Torun, Poland in March). "10ms" featured work by Taylor Dupree, Kim
Cascone, Heribert Friedl, Richard Garet, Kenneth Kirschner, Thomas Köner, Tomas

Currently in production is "Three Locations - Re:Recorded Fields" (RF005) featuring pieces by Toy.Bizarre, Els Viaene, Tarab, Felicity Mangan and Klimek (hot on the heels of his new "Movies is Magic album). From the three field recordings each contributed to a pool of site-specific recordings, each artist was given three recording in return from which they developed a new piece using their very personal and highly-developed sonic language that characterises their unique solo works. A beautiful and diverse album which defies what one would "expect" a field recording album to be...
