Robbie's Song (Life in a Mexican Jail)**
Robbie was a young boy,
Always did what they told him.
Ran with a wounded crowd,
Found solace in the weak.
He had the golden touch,
Wrote beautiful love songs.
Somewhere along the way
He lost his self-esteem.
Robbie was a good man,
Heading in the wrong direction,
Tried to make a quick buck
To put bread on the table.
One day when he came home
From running the border,
He found his house was empty,
It was more than he could bear.
And who's gonna listen to his story to tell.
He casts his wishes in an empty wishing well.
And these good intentions paved the winding road to hell.
Life in a Mexican Jail. No, no, no, no.
God gave you everything!
Junk cost you everything!
Are you coming home soon.
Mom cried, she cried, we cried – no, no, no, no!
They say that pride comes before the fall.
You'd better stop before you lose it all!

** Robbie's Song is based off of the true story of my uncle who spent 7 years in a Mexican Prison after being busted near Nogales with a truck load of cocaine. He was always one of my favorite uncles too - moral is, don't get caught on the Mexican side of the border doing ANYTHING illegal.
