Current mood: grateful Category: Music
Thanks to Joan Sherman, various presenting friends, and the Church of St. Andrew (Episcopal) in Marblehead, MA, I have a really busy spring and summer coming up. I've been Artist in Residence at St. Andrew's for a number of years now; throughout most of that time my focus has been on casting and performing my Meditations on the Passion, which will indeed be performed this March 21 with the core of what has developed over the years into a sort of repertory community of folk artists and dear friends, including the St. Andrew's choir directed by Amelia LeClair. But St. Andrew's has graciously expanded my role this spring; many weekends that I'm not on the road, I'll be debuting new songs written in response to the readings of the day. As a songwriter, this is an absolutely thrilling challenge (I sang the second of these new compositions this morning, having completed it last night). Like "Stir Up Your Power", "The Great Storm Is Over" and "Straw Against the Chill", I expect that some of these songs will make it into my general concert repertoire.
I'll be uploading more of the schedule of general audience concerts and workshops in the next week or so. As always, thanks for your support.
