Self Titled CD  Review Doom Radio.com

Tight as shit. Bone-crunching guitar riffs, altering rhythmically just enough to keep you from getting bored. Make no mistake, this is some hardcore
brutal death shit. It grinds,it tears, it churns and it burns Aint' no programmed drum patterns like you hear in so many industrial metal acts these days
either. Drummer Nick Urisch is all over the mother fucking map. There's a shitload of double-bass devastation but plenty of other interesting activity going on, on other parts of the drum kit as well.

Overall the music and the tortured guttural convulsions of vokillist Jacob Enfinger blend together with the musical instrumentation to evoke
imagery of being in an infernal pit, whether it be strictly literal or otherwise. And that's all I could ask of any death metal
album that is worth a shit. Take me to hell baby! Let me smell the sulfur and feel the torment in my mada fuckin bones!

-Mykke Doom, July 2006

Self Titled CD Review (printed in Rock City News)

Prepetual madamn Jacob Enfinger and his cohorts in malevolence have let lose the reigns on the rampaging beast that is their debut CD and my god does it rage with sheer, unrelenting nihilism. Dripping in irritable perspiration and cynical spite "The Passion" opens proceedings with brutal aplomb enforcing itself like a rolling maniac programmed to kill. I really like the systematic riff structures in this song and they are utilized to full effect especially during mid composition interruption where percussion maestro Nick Ursich harbors a tribalesque polyrythm against a gargantuan Guitar/Bass montage designed to incite nothing short of an earthquake.

I detest making comparisons but sometimes the obvious is inevitable (as well as benificial) and in Gatekeeper's case they often wear them on thier gasoline soaked sleeves. Shades of Decapitated intermingled with Cryptopsy, Immolation vibes with Cannibal Corpse and it all seethes in one glorious bonfire of anit religious lyrical propagation. Dont get me wrong because this is in no way  a bad thing yet a compliment of the highest caliber as Gatekeeper can achieve this stylistically and still be unique unto themselves. They do have many redeeming qualities as track number 3 "Dysuria" cocietedly displays. The curious hodgepodge of monochromatic chord patterns of Lars Johan Stenbekken clash harmonically with precussive slave lashings whilst the thunderous bass emissions of Andrew Short erode the very bowels of Hades itself. Jacobs lung regurgitations are so fierce on this cut that he could perhaps even rival Glen Bentons flem transgressions on Vital Remains 2003 opus "Dechristianize". Mostly pummeling from incubation to nadir. It also shines at certain bovine moments with authentic spouts of ecleticism. Case in point "Dragon Nostril" with incrimental almost Nirvana like interludes and dare i say "funky" deaththroes of "The Price of Salvation" that exhude a perculiar vibe of Korn being assrammed by Morbid Angel. Twas an odd occurance indeed. But wait!...Strange tales continue to  abound in "Coathanger" wich recollects the revolting misadventure of an innocent pregnant women ambushed by a ravening direlict armed with a coathanger. I shall leave the impending atrocity that followed thereafter strictly up to your demented and fertile little imagination. Definately one of the most promising of the new breed of underground Los Angeles Death Metal.

Gatekeeper set @ Whisky Hollywood CA June 29 2006

w/Cattle Decapitation, JFAC, Animosity, Misery Index

The doors opened at seven. It was hot as hell and I wasnt looking forward to cramming inside the whiskey a go go with a bunch of goofy teenagers.Yes it was like sardines in a can.The hardcore scene was in abundance tonight.I was growing irritated dodging the karate kicks and chops during the first two bands. The third band Gatekeeper stepped up to the plate and what a sight they were!Dressed like hawain surfers and stage decorated like a beach party. An idea even the Black Dalhia Murder had to "borrow".The snarling vokillist stated that Gatekeeper will now be known as Beachkeeper. The ghetto way of copyrighting ideas.I looked behind my self in the front and center of stage and noticed the Metal Heads came out of the wood work.I watched their adrenaline filled eyes turn to a blur when Gatekeeper kicked into the first song. The pit erupted into a mach tornado. The feeling of saftey was thrown out the doors and onto its weak ass on sunset blvd.Beach balls along with other beach toys were flying threw the air.I could only imagine how the world famous whiskey managment felt about that.Gatekeepers music can be described as fast, heavy, precise, and has plenty of grooves. There was no sloppiness to be found. The first song came to a halt and and the vokillist requested more people to squeeze up front for a little experiment. The crowd eagerly obeyed as he dissapeared to the back of the stage. The second song came blasting through the pa system when the vokillist jacob returned with an iflatible shark. He stradled the blue beast and dove into the crowd still singing with a cordless mike. The bass player (known as jebus) sprayed the crowd with the ejaculate of a silly string can. This was true anarchy!Gatekeepers set remained heavy and mischievous. They are Death Metal saviours and I highly recomend you pick up a copy of their album.

Gatekeeper set @Studio S, N. Hollywood CA Dec. 15 2005

-January/Febuary 2006 issue of Highwire Daze Magazine

w/ Enthraller, C.T.S., Avidity, Savagery, Asserverating Demise

Up Next was Gatekeeper now Dubbed "Gangkeeper" and dressed in garb that would easily mistaken them for a gangland local. The Pit went into overdrive when the gang took the stage, yelling tributes to "Tookie" and unleashing songs from the devastating self titled debut CD. Someone should hurry up and sign these guys, cuz not only are they brutal as hell, but the band possesses a wicked sense of humor in their music. It was truly party time at studio S when this metal horde took over the stage.

Gatekeeper @ Studio S, N. Hollywood CA Oct. 28 2005

-November/December issue of Highwire Daze Magazine

w/ Sothis, Rise, Infamy

The first band we encountered on stage was Gatekeeper, all decked out in halloween costumes, and delivering a mighty dose on in your fukking face metal. Then guys exude a good deal of talent and charisma, and is the type of new school band that could place this town on the metal map.

-Ken Norton

 Hate Mail

Although I respect what you guys are doing to promote your band. I do not appreciate your entertainment with abortion. There is no entertainment in abortion. There is nothing funny or amuzing about it either. Be thankful that you have the life that you do and are able do the things that you want to do like play the music you like, because your mother could've made that "humorous" decision and aborted you. You really want some fans? Stand for something that's worth standing for
