MINNEAPOLIS CD RELEASE SHOW:  2/22/08 @ THE FINE LINE w/ Dropping Daylight, Attention, & Seconds Before / 18+ / $8 / 8pm

If it's begun to seem like our new record will come out when Hell freezes over . . . it must be mighty cold down there.

IT'S FINALLY DONE!!  Ladies and gents we are so proud to announce our brand new bouncing bundle of joy called 'Hold Your Breath for a Rising Tide.'

It's been almost 4 years since we released our last record 'Anodyne'.  Can you believe that?  Because we all about died when we realized that four years had gone by.  Where does it all go?  It's amazing - our lives have really changed and developed in these last four years and this new record is a vibrant reflection of this evolution for us.  These songs feel so true and authentic to us, and we're REALLY excited to share them with you!

Musically we've taken what we've been doing through the years and threw in heavy doses of experimentation, nods to our musical heroes from the 80's, and a tip of the hat to our Montana country roots.  Lyrically, it feels fresh and honest to us - it deals with love, loss, more love, breaking down on the road, assholes giving girls roofies in First Ave, doubt, hope, nostalgia, adventure, romance, growing up, moving on, and keeping the dream alive.  We've really enjoyed making a record that we feel is honest, fun, urgent, and hopeful.

Does it sound like we're too close to it?  Of course we are!  We also did 99% of the production, engineering, mixing and mastering for the record.  But it's what we love to do!

Now it's time for YOU to hear it and tell us what you think.  Check out some of the advance tracks here on Myspace, and you can pre-order the CD on our online store  -  http://www.newartistdirect.com/artistpages/downandabove.shtml  -  it will ship around Feb 4, in time for you to get your paws on it and spend time with it so you can learn the songs and sing along at our CD release show.  Drop us a line and let us know what you think!  We've been looking forward to sharing this with you for a very long time!!

Been listening since I found Jubba Trees and Need on mp3. com years ago. Vena Cava is my all-time favorite CD by any band, Anodyne is absolutely killer, and Hold Your Breath has grown to compete with Vena Cava. I loved it so much when I got it that I felt the need to give my copy away to an ex who loved Vena Cava when we were together. She is now a huge fan of Hold Your Breath too, and I of course bought a 2nd copy of it to replace mine. Recently I bought another copy of Anodyne and a copy of About the Three of You. No artwork, what gives? haha it's cool, the music is great. The acoustic version of Lost took me by surprise since I didn't read the track titles before popping it into my stereo. It's amazing.

I need another shirt to go with my brown one with the tree on it.
But I'm fat and I need a bigger size!

Keep up the killer work fellas, independent bands all over the country should be looking to you guys for a blueprint of how to do it up right.
