With the continued demise of Deep Ellum, it's only going to get harder and harder to see more bands live. Face it, when you've got 5 incredible clubs in a few blocks distance and then several other venues bringing in music as well, Deep Ellum made it very easy to stop one time and see a lot of bands in one night. That said, I find bands and their music online more and more and hey, maybe that's a good thing because that's where I'm trying to get people to listen also!

Evenmark is a myspace contact that when asked, supplied us with a CD and now I've come to play their music not only on my weekly show (the icehouse, Thurs 7-9pm CST - shameless plug shameless plug) but they were added into the mainstream rotation pretty quickly.

The band consists of 3 musicians (bringing us one step closer to a night of nothing but 3 piece bands w/venture in the mix as well!) with Coby McCubbin on vocals and guitar, Dustin Kyger on lead guitar and Yuri Torres on drums.

The notable songs from the cd include "Seasons" which starts off with a solo guitar and builds into very nice song, adding in each piece as it progresses. This is one of the ones I find myself going to back to from time to time when I have the cd in as well as one I play on Thursdays.

Space and Violins are also very good songs on a solid cd that I'm glad we have in our library now.

There is one remake for "Send me an Angel" by Real Life that while I liked their rendition, it made me wonder where the backup vocals were. Then I stopped to wonder how many people would notice that if they were in their younger 20's, but I did miss the backup vocals just the same.

In all, it's a very solid cd and Evenmark is on my list of bands I make it a point to go see live as soon as I can. Yea, it can be an effort especially these days - but in the end it's well worth it. They put a lot of time and effort into their music and it shows with a great cd and a solid mix.
