Hello out there in the real world! It is raining and rather cold here in Auckland city so I am in close proximity to the heater and planning my return into the (cold) room that houses my keyboards and guitar. Practise is the word of the day - up coming tour, and many a performance as I get ready to release my album - september 7th is the date - and it's official... I can't wait! So, if there are any particular small towns you'd recommend (preferably one with an actual venue) please, fire away. I am soooo looking forward to traveling and playing these songs live, am well prepared to brave the next cold snap predicted by the nz herald - thats just how dedicated I am (JP would tell you a different story of me befallen by misery with just a slight chill in the air) Anyhow - I can do it as I'm on my way to you and you and YOU! with good songs!
For now, follow me on twitter - twitter.com/miriamclancy for many a laugh and observation. I have to say its GREAT for breaking news. I am a fan indeed.
On a sadder note, its very hard to imagine such a clever, insightful man such as Chris Knox unable to talk due to the stroke that happened to him on friday. I am a recent convert to Chris's music (a little behind the 8 ball I hear you say?) after he gave me his cd's with a lovely inscription on them written for me and a handful of beer coasters. This was AFTER we crashed his house - Andre Upston and I - to record his vintage mellotron for my album, hijacking his studio which is an incredible sight in itself. So after an afternoon of chatting with him and Barbara, looking at his amazing paintings and sitting on his deck drinking beer, I left with Chris wedged into 'hero status' in my musical head.
I really hope he gets better.
And with that thought, have a grand day - do all you planned to do and be happy.
xx Miriam
p.s i sang his song Not Given Lightly at a wedding. he sings it at weddings too. I found that funny.
