I didn't realize until just now how much of a landmark "Mario" is in my life... I grew up playing this game daily for hours, and I still play it regularly to this day.  I guess by now, it's stealthily become a firm, dependable part of my reality.  This video features Mario being played with some type of glitch script mods activated, turning the familiar Mario world I grew up with, into some hellish trans-dimensional nightmare.

To hear and see this artificial world in which I've spent countless hours, in such a deformed state, really affects my soul... it's almost as though a piece of my reality itself was shattering as I watched this.  Great video.  It unintentionally speaks of the unseen potential nature of our world... For me, It also speaks on how we find comfort in the "known", and fear in the "unknown"...  It communicates to me how frail our perceptions of reality are... how helpless we become when our preconceived notions of reality crumble before our very eyes.  I believe that none of these interpretations were intentional by the creator of the following video, but the effect of art is rarely decided by the artist.

Anyway, all who dare... I invite you to take a step into the unknown.  Watch the following video:

It won't effect everyone in the same way, especially if you're not too familiar with the original "Super Mario Bros." game, but  those of us who are, will undoubtedly feel slightly disturbed by the eerily simultaneous sense of familiarity and unfamiliarity.

The music is another thing to mention... so very interesting.  Disturbing, yet comforting at times... almost hopeful.  As though it's struggling very hard to remain as it once was, but can't help but to inevitably succumb to the forces that have encroached upon it.

Well... this has been interesting... reflecting upon my thoughts after watching a "harmless" video. lol  Hopefully I don't sound too pretentious.  Thanks for reading.

(lol... another mario-related blog btw. whoa.)

I played the hell outta that game as a kid.   I couldn't wait to get home from school and play...
A few times I was a little careless with putting the game into my Nintendo, and when I tried to play the game, the screen looked like that.  It was still playable, albeit psychedelic and confusing...
It happened with Super Mario Bros. 2, which was even more messed up than the video.
The red doors were Birdo, for instance.
Despite my abuse, my NES still works!
