May was a completely crazy month for Lovie. we got a new bass player, we hosted our annual benefit, The UltraViolet Rock Show and Art Auction for CF, we became official Daisy Rock Guitar artists, we appeared on local TV twice and we went to NYC to perform at Arlene's Grocery.
whirlwind... whirl. wind.

and i'll be posting some pics here as well...this evening.
Our trip to NYC was amazing. LOVIE had many firsts on this trip. 1. our first to travel and play out of state 2. our first plane ride with instruments (cari even took one of her farfisas on the plane - because yes. she owns more than one) 3. our first to play a show with NONE of our regular familiar faces in the crowd. 4. our first time to stay in a hotel that is right next door to the hell's angels headquarters.
i've written this blog in my head a million times but now that i'm sitting down, i'm losing my charm and funny... so i'll continue with my bullet point theme and list the highlights, a perhaps a spark of humor will strike me :
1. we gave each other new nicknames that mean nothing but make us laugh: Rebecca/lunchbox; Cari/fishstick; Kristen/crackerjack; Leanna/sodapop
2. our luggage upon NYC arrival was at, "number B as in boy" per the flight attendant who was clearly confused and perhaps thinks that 3 is the magic letter.
3. jason loewenstein from sebadoh and steve burns of "steve burns and the struggle," came to our show and carried our gear after and took us out for drinks www.myspace.com/jakerock www.myspace.com/steveburnsofficialmyspace
4. WHY oh WHY was the video NOT rolling when this lady got bumped into and called out to her offender, "Look what cha did to my sweatah ya stupid moron. ya jerk" and then cari says, "i wanted to tell her that perhaps her insult would have packed more of punch if it weren't redundant."
5. had lunch at the cutest cafe, called 'Follow Me Caffee"
6. discovered that Kristen and Rebecca have similar eating habbits.
7. Steve Burns treated us to dinner and let us come hang out in his Williamsburg apt. where we sat in the thinking chair, played guitar met one of his puppets from his rock/puppetshow "Choose Your Own Adventure." (no, this is not spinal tap, this is for real and real good too.)
8. DUMBO
9. renamed Kristen's iphone, "The Golden Calf," as we began to idolize it and rely on it for everything.
10. subway=faster, cheaper and easier than taxis
11. followed Jimmy Fallon's tweet to Times Square. He was whisked off by his "handler," but we slipped a CD to his producer. ps: Jimmy is just as adorable in real life. without a doubt. www.imdb.com/name/nm0266422/
12. a new jersey radio dj played Lovie on the friday morn after our show after his mom saw us at arlene's and got our cd to pass to him (WRSU 88.7 fm)
13. Arlene's sound guy asked for our CD and said to let him know if we ever want to play there again.
14. passed Amber Tamblyn on the street in Lower East Side near our hotel. www.imdb.com/name/nm0848554/
15. WHY oh WHY was the video NOT rolling when that man called out to Leanna "AY CHIHUAHUA!"
16. it really is possible to spell blood with your fingertips, although we recommend that you do NOT try it at home or in casual surroundings. or maybe not ever.
