Armitage Shanks + The London Dirthole Company
Nags Head Pub, Rochester Kent 18th Jan 2008
Last Friday I took a trip down to Rochester to experience another great set by the newly sprused Shanks, To hear the legendary drum playing of Vic Flange and to see Dick Scum bossing up one of our great garage punk bands. Its been a while since they last played and the few gigs of recent has proven that they have lost none of their hard driven attitude, present since their evolution way back in 1990. Favourites include...Ambulance, Shirts Off and Keys to your Heart.
Among the audience were mickey Hampshire, Ludella Black, Alan Crockford, Graham Day, Wolf Howard and Dollyhead Books(Chris). Proving that quality musicians (Errr!) were there to support this fine act.
It was the first time I had seen The LD Co and they did not dissapoint, explainations vary on their sound but I saw a good dollop of Mark E Smith amonst the mix.
Lastly I should urge you all to take the time to travel to these places rather than get stuck in the rut of just London gigs, it didnt take that long to get there. Keep yer eyes peeled for gigs at The Nags Head by The Spitfire 4 and The Vanderbilts.
Big up the racket
