Today, I'm gonna follow in the footsteps of Jaymatic w/ this one....

This weekend, I DIDN'T really have a weekend @ all----my whole world came to a complete halt.
I DIDN'T do any grocery shopping, I DIDN'T go out anywhere, I DIDN'T talk much on the phone,
I DIDN'T reply to any of my Facebook messages [or approve any of the friends requests that I got],
& I damn sure DIDN'T play a lick of Mobsters on Myspace.

Each year, the 3rd weekend in August is just as sacred to me as the 1st Sunday in September.
Now, that its passed----
there's a pretty good chance that my blogging will be back ON this week.
[though I still CAN'T make any guarantees or promises about that].

If you've been checkin' out my status updates....  then, ya know why I HAVEN'T blogged lately
[aside from the fact that I've got alotta MORE IMPORTANT things going on in my personal life].

Fantasy football has officially taken over cities & online communities all over America.
My real life friends would tell you that there are few people that know MORE about sports than me.
But, the downside of fantasy football is that [in my life] it DOESN'T mix very well with blogging.

I've ALWAYS wanted to write a blog titled Tony Blogtana's Fantasy Football Guide b-cuz [frankly]
I seriously doubt that there's a mofo out there who could give y'all the scoop BETTER than me!!!!
My track record in fantasy football is all that you'd need to see to know that few can even hang w/ me.

But, since I'm a blogger & an avid football fan....
it'd be impossible for me to write post a fantasy football guide kinda blog
WITHOUT tipping my hand to EVERY one of my friends that participates in FFB with me!!!!

For years, I've had to sit in sadness while ESPN & Yahoo give the general public fucked up info about
who to take in their upcoming fantasy football drafts.

I've wanted soooo badly to help out the FFB players of the world by posting a pre-draft blog....
but, I'm sorta handcuffed on that one (no pun intended----FFB players know what I mean)!!!!

Since my fantasy football drafts are pretty much finished....
I think that I might be able to offer a few tips that'll help y'all out [if yours is coming up].

FFB Rule 1:  Avoid Steven Jackson like the plague, this year!!!!
My personal rule is "Never draft a runningback that had a long holdout during training camp"!!!!
Emmitt Smith is the ONLY guy that's ever panned out after missing significant time @ training camp
[everybody else has either gotten hurt or played like shit immediately after signing their new deal
b-cuz they WEREN'T in game shape].
Last year provided a classic example of what I'm talking about----LARRY JOHNSON!!!!

DON'T pay attention to the morons who claim that holding out & missing pre-season = good health.

FFB Rule 2:  Most fantasy football experts preach that you should draft a RB with your 1st pick....
but, my belief is that you SHOULDN'T unless LaDainian Tomlinson is on the board @ your spot.
Why????
B-cuz runningbacks are the most susceptible to injury!!!!  They tend to get hurt early & en masse.
They're one dirty hit, bad cutback, or tweaked groin away from fucking up your entire FFB season.
So, I try NOT to build my team around the RB position.
Every team runs that ball---so, those yards MUST go to somebody regardless of what their name is.

Trust when I say that you can ALWAYS get quality runners in rounds 3-4!!!!
You'd be amazed @ how successful I've been @
building my backfield AFTER everybody else in the league has drafted theirs!!!!

Last year, in my BET.com league----I waited until the so-called marquee runners were off-the-board....
then, I drafted Adrian Peterson, Marion Barber, & Jamal Lewis outta the leftovers!!!!
In 2002, I did the exact same thing & ended up snagging LaDainian Tomlinson!!!!

Runningback is the ONE position where people are the MOST obsessed w/ name recognition....
& this can often be the kiss of death in FFB!!!!
Whoever beasted out last year is gonnabe stalked by everybody & their grandma the next season
[regardless of whether you're talkin' about defenses keying in on that player or FFB heads in general].

The GOOD thing is that everybody else's tunnel vision makes it easy for people like me
to find draft day steals @ the runningback position every year!!!!
Hence, why I was able to build my killer backfield of Peterson, Barber, & Lewis last year
when NOBODY was expecting ANY of those guys to do much.
Last year, everyone was saying:
(a) "Adrian Peterson WON'T make a huge impact b-cuz he'll be sharing carries w/ Chester Taylor",
(b) "Marion Barber CAN'T repeat his TD production----he's Julius Jones' backup",
& (c) "Jamal Lewis is playing for the sorry ass Browns & he was cut by Baltimore for a reason".

Obviously, I DIDN'T pay attention to what the experts were saying [and it paid HUGE dividends].

If any of you need a sleeper for this year....
then, I advise you to draft Michael Turner of Atlanta!!!!
Trust me, he's gonna put up huge numbers if he stays healthy.

I've drafted him in 3 fantasy leagues already &
have been shopping him around just to see what kinda offers that I'd get in-return....
but, NOBODY has wanted to trade for him so far!!!!
LOL - oh well, it'll be THEIR loss when it's all said n' done.

I betcha NONE of them even realize that I shopped around Tom Brady last year too, got no offers,
& all that Brady did was go onto have the GREATEST season of all-time by an NFL quarterback.

FFB Rule 3:  Good quarterbacks are hard to find----so, getting one oughta be your top priority!!!!
This is another reason why my 1st round philosophy is "DON'T draft a RB unless it's LaDainian".
Quarterbacks don't get hurt nearly as often as runningbacks do....
& there are far FEWER Pro Bowl-calibre quarterbacks than there are franchise runners in the NFL.

There ISN'T much QB depth after Peyton, Eli, Brady, Cutler, Big Ben, Palmer, Romo, & Brees.

FFB Rule 4:  Do NOT fall in love w/ Adrian Peterson, this season!!!!
Last year, I had no problem taking him b-cuz I knew that EVERYBODY was sleeping on him....
but, this year, I promise you that Adrian's NOT gonna live up to the world's lofty expectations!!!!

If you're thinking about drafting AP....
then, lemmie drop a dime for you to think about 1st before ya do:
(a) last year, Peterson got almost 40% of his TOTAL rushing yards in just 2 games!!!!
(b) last year, he only caught 19 passes & he only had ONE game where he caught MORE than 3
and he had 3 games where he DIDN'T catch ONE @ all----so much for being an all-purpose back
(c) he plays for the Minnesota Vikings----which means that he's gotta GIANT bull's eye on him!!!!

(d) Bryant McKinnie [who's Peterson's best blocker upfront] is gonnabe suspended for 4 games

All this spells disaster for the guy that everyone keeps debating about whether to pick numero uno.
I'm NOT gonna front----on one of my draft boards this year, I had Adrian Peterson ranked 16th!!!!

I know that y'all probably think that I'm crazy for dissing Adrian Peterson like this....
but, you'll remember what I said when he burns the shit outta your FFB team [if you draft him]!!!!

FFB Rule 5:  Don't bullshit when it comes to making trades!!!!
For some odd reason, I've found that the MAJORITY of FFB players come in 2 types:
(a) people that're paranoid of any trade that's sent their way &
(b) folks that send out ridiculous trade requests just to see if anybody's dumb enough to accept them

My personal belief is that it's counterproductive to do either or!!!!
It's pointless to be paranoid of making a trade & it's also pointless to send crappy trade requests.

Carly plays FFB with me & she was telling me yesterday,
"One thing that I can say about you is that you DON'T send out trade requests that're bullshit.
You ALWAYS consider what's gonna help the other team that you're trading with.
Yours are NEVER lopsided----you actually evaluate what the other team needs & will work w/ that".

That's the kinda FFB player that I am!!!!
But, most of these other cats out here be fakin' the funk when it comes to FFB trades.
For instance....
there's this one brotha in my Myspace league who NEVER sends around a decent trade offer!!!!
He just sends around bullshit trades in hopes that one of us makes the mistake of accepting.
Well, I DON'T do that shit b-cuz you run the risk of destroying the trust that others have in you.
If you send outta bullshit request to a FFB player that KNOWS what he's doing....
then, you'll only end up making them skeptical of you from that point forward.

This AM, somebody offered me James Jones for Brandon Jackson
b-cuz [I guess] he thought that I DIDN'T know that James Jones is injured & won't play in Week 1.
WTF kinda shit is that????  I'm NOT a dummy & receiving that offer was quite insulting.

BTW - this weekend, I traded Julius Peppers & Lance Briggs to my cousin for Brian Urlacher.
But, guess how I pulled it off???  I told my cousin,
"Hey man, you need defense & I've got too much of it.  I REALLY want Brian Urlacher though....
so, I'm willing to give you 2 defensive superstars in exchange for him!!!!
But, if you want DeMeco Ryans----then, we're gonna have to do a 1-for-1 swap instead of 2-for-1".

My cousin jumped @ the opportunity & ended up juicing up his defense in a matter of minutes!!!
He understood that Briggs & Urlacher are pretty much gonna give the same production....
so, the fact that I was willing to send him Julius Peppers too made the deal THAT MUCH sweeter.
That's how you pull off a trade in FFB!!!!

MOST people would've bullshitted on making that trade though [outta fear].
If I'd sent them the offer WITHOUT explaining my reasons why....
then, the average person would've thought, "Uh oh, what's Tony Blogtana up to"?!?!?!
Big mistake!!!!  Lemmie give y'all an example of the kinda paranoia that we're talkin' about....

Yesterday, in Boog Energy's league, I sent outta trade request to
somebody that's in desperate need of a starting quarterback!!!!
Well, I happen to have 3 QBs on my roster (Tony Romo, Jon Kitna, & Vince Young)....
so, I sent dude a trade offer!!!!

I offered Vince Young to solve his QB problems & Donald Driver
for Torry Holt & Felix Jones (a backup runningback).
But, for some odd reason, I think that dude DENIED my trade request even though he needs a QB!!!!
I guess that he DIDN'T like the fact that I was asking for Torry Holt.

But, here's the thing....
statistically, there's NOT much of a FFB dropoff between Torry Holt & Donald Driver
[especially when you consider the fact that you're getting a starting QB in exchange for a backup RB].

Yes, Holt's pretty much a lock for 90+ catches & 1100+ yards....
but, he's also on the downside of his playing career & has been playing on a bum knee for 2 years.
Donald Driver [on the other hand] is gonna get alotta passes thrown his way
b-cuz Green Bay will be playing from behind in several games.
Last year, Driver posted 82 catches & cracked 1000 yards for the 5th time in the past 6 seasons
[the only knock on him was the fact that he scored only 2 TDs].
But, damn----getting Vince Young for Felix Jones oughta be enough to offset the difference, right???
It's NOT like Felix Jones is gonna steal redzone TDs away from Marion Barber.

FFB Rule 6:  Research the scoring system of your league!!!!
I cannot stress this enough!!!
LOL - I play in a FFB league where quarterbacks generate @ least 6x more points than runningbacks....
but, for some odd reason, 13 of the 16 participants end up drafting a RB in the 1st round each year!!!
Then, those same folks wonder why I end up going undefeated in that league.
Ummm, it helps to do your research folks----use your brain & do some simple math.

FFB Rule 7:  NEVER underestimate defense in an individual defensive player (IDP) league!!!!
Carly often says that "Fantasy football leagues that use TEAM defenses are for cupcakes & girls!!!
Anybody can pick The Bears or The Ravens defense b-cuz they're good....
but, REAL fantasy footballers play with individual defensive players----NOT team defenses"!!!!

Now, granted, sometimes the option to play with IDPs isn't available [as is the case with ESPN].
But, on Yahoo, it is & I tell ya----IDP leagues are ahelluvalot MORE fun & MORE interesting
[especially when your commissioner's setup the scoring to give defense a major influence on it].

Unfortunately, there are ALWAYS gonnabe a handfull of GMs who think that they'll be able to
win a title by drafting a juggernaut offense while building a defense full of free agent rejects!!!!

Ummm, those folks always end up getting a rude awakening b-cuz their strategy NEVER works!!!
If you're in an IDP league, then those players are there for a reason!!!!
They're just as important as the offensive stars that're scoring TDs for you.
Many times, your IDPs will make or break the results & carry you to a championship.

One reason why it's bad to build your defense around free agent rejects is b-cuz
ahelluvalotta those guys breakdown @ the end of the year [b-cuz they CAN'T handle the load]!!!!
Barrett Rudd was a fantasy stud for the 1st 1/2 of the season----but, he got tired in the 2nd 1/2.
@ some point, having all of those free agent rejects WILL catchup to you!!!!
So, if you're in an IDP league----then, you really DO need to take defense seriously.
DON'T think for a second that you can ALWAYS find a guy who'll match Nick Barnett's production.

OK, I'm gonna wrap this one up by posting my FFB rosters for this upcoming season.

Hi, Tony Blogtana,
Thanks for the tips. I'm no great fan of football, in real life or fantasy, though I know and understand the game better than most who claim to be avid fans (go figure), but what a thoughtful, well planned blog. I'm sure your fellow fantasy-ers will appreciate it, too.

Well, on to that real life stuff. Have a good season. :)

Well, I'm wayyyyy late in posting these tips
b-cuz MOST leagues schedule their drafts around the 3rd pre-season game.

Since I've got Myspacers in my leagues....
I CAN'T post these kinda tips until AFTER the majority of my drafts have been conducted.
Plus, I've done enough damage to myself
by giving my best friend (Joe Styx) tips when I SHOULDN'T have.

But, I do realize that there are quite a few leagues that will be drafting this coming weekend.
So, those folks could use this stuff.

Thanks for the best wishes in my leagues though.
I'm NOT gonnabe taking any prisoners this season.

Heck no, it's NOT a guy thing.

Like I said, Lizz Robbins runs a fantasy football league.

These Eyes Never Lie & Perverted Monk are
participating in leagues that I'm running this year.

Carly's played fantasy football with me for the past 5 years &
she does pretty damn well. She's NEVER finished worse than 3rd &
has finished 2nd in 2 of the past 3 years.
She had Bob Sanders on her team BEFORE anybody had even heard of him.

L Dawg plays & she won the league that she played in last year.

I know that One Cool CEO played in a league a few years ago.

LaTasha plays fantasy football & so does my sister.

We've also gotta female playing in the BET.com league that I'm in.

So, it's definitely NOT just a guy thing.

I wouldn't necessarily go so far as to call it ignorance (that's kinda harsh).
I just think that ladies have a natural tendency to associate football w/ male bonding.

And even though men DO bond over sports....
fantasy football happens to be sumthin' that many women participate in
as a means of understanding the game better & getting closer to their significant other.

Every year, Carly surprises me w/ her ability to find players in FFB.
She's got her own formula now &
only comes to me whenever she wants to know if somebody's healthy.

What up Son...

I just put QB Kurt Warner on the Block....I already got Brady and Kitna. I'm shopping him for the best available offer.

I wanted to get Nick Barnett too...that shit pissed me off when I didn't.....of course this is after I realized that in your league, Tackle Machines who also get around 6 to six sacks and 4 to 5 ffs etc are gold.

Thats why I traded LenDale White for Karlos Dansby.

Shiiiiit, I tried to get JAmes Farrior off the free agent market, but I didn't know how to do that shit and he ended up going to somebody else.

I did grab Stephen Cooper and took a flyer on Keith Rivers though....Keith is my sleeper defender for the year.

Good move.
You'll probably get a decent offer from somebody that needs a QB.

I wanted to get Nick Barnett too.... that shit pissed me off when I didn't

Barnett's a stud!!!!
He oughta be one of the top 10 defensive players taken EVERY season....
but, people sleep on him b-cuz he's NOT really a big name.

in your league, Tackle Machines who also get around 6 to six sacks and
4 to 5 ffs etc are gold.

I actually found this scoring system on another website
after shopping around for the best one.

This is only the 2nd year that I'm gonnabe using it....
but, it definitely separates the men from the boys.

I traded LenDale White for Karlos Dansby

That's a damn good trade!!!!
I'm NOT particularly a fan of LenDale White.

But, Karlos Dansby is ALWAYS someone that I keep my eye on every season.
I'm just skeptical about drafting him b-cuz he's NEVER played 16 games.
You can pretty much count on him missing @ least 2 games per year.
Regardless though----Dansby produces Pro Bowl quality stats when he's healthy.
He's kinda like a poor man's Brian Urlacher.

I tried to get James Farrior off the free agent market,
but I didn't know how to do that shit and he ended up going to somebody else

I was trying to get him too....
but, my cousin took TOO LONG approving the trade AFTER we got off the phone.
So, I was forced to grab Keith Brooking before he was gone too.

My boy Joe Styx is the one that snagged James Farrior.

I've noticed that alotta folks who need defensive help AREN'T making any moves.
But, I'm gonna tell y'all sumthin'....
this ISN'T a league where you can afford to wait @ all!!!!

I've been playing fantasy sports against Joe Styx for @ least 10 years now.
Trust when I say that Joe's ALWAYS monitoring the free agent pool!!!!

Since MOST of y'all have NEVER played in a league with him....
you're gonna end up learning very quickly that Joe makes it damn near impossible
for folks to take alotta time picking up free agents!!!!
If a player's available,
then I'm ALWAYS gonna put my $$$$ on Joe getting to them BEFORE anybody else does.

Just a word of warning.

The folks that're still waiting around to grab defensive players
are gonnabe ass out over the next 24-48 hours if they DON'T jump on it.

took a flyer on Keith Rivers though....
Keith is my sleeper defender for the year.

I AGREE wholeheartedly w/ you about Keith Rivers!!!!
He's someone that I was targeting as a free agent.

I have a personal rule AGAINST drafting rookie defenders
[which fucked me up last year when it came to Patrick Willis].

But, if you're gonna get a rookie defensive player this season....
then, Keith Rivers is definitely the one to tryout!!!!

If you happen to discover that your targeted player has mysteriously vanished....
then, I advise you to checkout Joe's roster BEFORE you look @ anybody else's.

I swear that muthafucka watches Sports Center &
picks up players as soon as their latest game stats pop on-the-screen.

He got me for D.J. Williams too. I had him in my cross hairs

I knew that you were gonnabe a bit pissed off about that....
but, I WOULDN'T sweat it if I were you.

D.J. Williams production is gonna take a hit this season
b-cuz he's moving back to his natural LB position.
He overachieved last year in the middle.

I still have a few tricks up my sleeve!!!

You're gonna need em' in this league.
LOL - I didn't name it The All-Star GMs League for nuthin'.

There's SOOOOOOOOO damn much to this game, it seems! Someone posted a blog last year for the women to learn about it and I had every intention of printing out the blog......then he got married and deleted his profile! Bastard

I think that you're talkin' about Stradford Stone.
If so, then I spoke to him on the phone Friday [just BEFORE going into FFB hibernation].

i don't understand all this. I tried to follow it, but I'm gonna hafta print this out, read slowly and google everytime I read something I don't understand! you've given me homework! Lol!

If you're a female that DOESN'T know football very well....
then, playing fantasy football is one of the BEST ways to learn the game quickly!!!!

Just cut & paste the following in your web browser to read about it
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fantasy_football_(American)

Also, NFL.com offers a beginner's guide to fantasy football

Last year, I invited my little cousin to join my fantasy football league
even though I play w/ seasoned cats & my cuzz had NEVER played before.
He DIDN'T know WTF he was doing @ all.

So, I told him to just play WITHOUT worrying about where he finished
& to take the ass whoopings as all just a part of the learning experience.
I was honest by telling him that he'd probably finish in LAST PLACE....
but, that it'd make him STRONGER for the next season.

My cousin caught some beginner's luck in the 1st week by beating me....
but, after that, he LOST 10 of his next 11 weeks!!!!

Still, he NEVER ONCE got frustrated or quit.
He kept trying & competing all the way till the very end.

When it was all said n' done,
he went UNDEFEATED during the last 3 weeks of the season &
spoiled some folks' chances of making it into the playoffs.

This year, I can tell [just from looking @ his team] that
he's learned from his mistakes & is gonna make ahelluvalot MORE noise.

So, I say all of this to let YOU know that
it's NOT gonnabe easy the 1st season.
But, it'll be a good learning experience in the long run &
it WON'T take you very long to learn how to whoop people's asses @ FFB.

I'd love to participate in a $$$$ league....
but, I take the free leagues seriously enough as is.

It truly hurts me whenever I lose @ fantasy sports....
so, I can't imagine how much it'd hurt if I actually had $$$$ on-the-line.

Last year, I went 14-0 during the regular season of Lizz Robbins' league....
but, I ended up losing in the 1st round of the playoffs
all b-cuz The Minnesota Vikings soldout when I needed them most.
Losing that ONE week has stung for the past year
& I've been itching to get the fantasy season started
just so that I could redeem myself.

But, it would've hurt so much MORE if I'd lost $$$$ b-cuz of it.

once the 1st few weeks of the season are behind us.

"what order do you think I should think about drafting in my leagues"

Well, lemmie preface my advice to you by giving
FFB Rule 9: Abandon conventional wisdom when it comes to team loyalty!!!!

Alotta FFB experts preach that team loyalty has NO PLACE in fantasy football....
but, I completely DISAGREE w/ this philosophy
EXCEPT for when you're drafting IDPs!!!!

It's my personal belief that
you oughta AVOID drafting players from your favorite team's rival(s)
b-cuz nothing's worse than hoping that those guys do well
[especially when they're playing AGAINST your favorite team]!!!!

The reason why I'm telling you this
is b-cuz I know that you're a Washington Redskins fan &
the fact that you're one is carrying serious weight with my advice for you today.

Your CBS league is one that seems to favor RBs....
but, it's also one that heavily favors stud QBs!!!!

According to your CBS league's scoring system....
Tony Romo would've averaged around 22-23 points per game last season
while Brian Westbook would've gotcha somewhere in the neighborhood of 24-25.

But, not many RBs are gonna produce Brian Westbrook kinda numbers over 16 games.

So, again, unless LaDainian Tomlinson is on the board @ your slot....
I think that you should go QB-RB-RB.

In your case, I'd try to target someone like Clinton Portis in the 2nd round
b-cuz the odds are pretty high that he'll still be there
even if everybody else drafts a RB in the 1st round.

But, if you get Clinton Portis....
then, be sure to draft a solid RB whose history is injury-free as insurance.
Clinton Portis is one of those high risk/reward kinda runners.

LT, AP, Westbrook, Marion Barber, Steven Jackson, Frank Gore, & Marshawn Lynch
will probably be taken BEFORE anyone takes a look @ Clinton Portis.
There's also ALWAYS gonnabe that ONE person who'll draft Randy Moss early.

So, if you target a marquee QB early [especially if you've gotta late 1st round pick]....
then, you're almost certain to get Clinton Portis when your turn comes back around!!!!
@ the very WORST, you can still nab Michael Turner if Portis is gone.

As for your Yahoo league.... based on the scoring system,
I think that you oughta target a RB only if your 1st round pick is a Top 3 selection
or your league has 10+ teams in it.

If your league has 8 teams or less....
then, you might as well go QB-RB-RB again.

If you've gotta Top 3 selection....
then, I'd go RB-RB-QB as long as LaDainian Tomlinson is on the board when you pick.

I DON'T think that you'd be able to stomach having Brian Westbrook or Marion Barber....
so, you'd be better off targeting a QB if LT is gone
rather than taking the risk that Adrian Peterson will duplicate last year's performance.

Some folks are predicting that he's gonna rush for 2000 yards....
but, I just DON'T see it happening.
To be honest, I WOULDN'T be surprised if AP barely cracks 1000.

No I can draft Westbrook if he is available .... Barber (maybe a little harder to stomach)! But it's all about making the best FF team right!

Thanks for the tips. You are sold on Michael Turner huh! Atlanta with Matt Ryan at the helm .... HMMMM.
I don't know ... I haven't seen them in preseason at all. Why so gung ho on him?

So you think I should go QB RB RB in CBS League and RB RB QB in Yahoo as long as I can get LT ... but if I don't get at Top 3 LT will be gone by then so I should get Michael Turner???? LOL!!!

Even though Brian Westbrook's a D.C. native
that I've followed ever since he was @ DeMatha....
he's ALWAYS been someone that I've avoided in FFB drafts
[due to his durability & injury history].
Granted he's a GREAT all-around FFB player....
but, he's also another one of those high risk/reward type that I'd rather NOT pick.

Thanks for the tips. You are sold on Michael Turner huh!
Atlanta with Matt Ryan at the helm.... HMMMM.
I don't know... I haven't seen them in preseason at all. Why so gung ho on him?

(1) Matt Ryan HASN'T looked that bad in the preseason.
I figure that he CAN'T do any worse than Harrington, Leftwich, & Redman.

(2) Michael Turner's looked amazing in the preseason.
He ran for 116 yards on only 4 carries against The Colts 1st team defense.
They DON'T call him the burner for nuthin'.

So you think I should go QB RB RB in CBS League and RB RB QB in Yahoo as long as I can get LT ... but if I don't get at Top 3 LT will be gone by then so I should get Michael Turner???? LOL!!!

Even though I'm high on Michael Turner.... I DON'T advise you to REACH on him!!!!
I think that it's a bit far-fetched to take him in the 1st round
even if you're in a DEEP league that's got 12+ teams
[but, I wouldn't rule out taking him in the 2nd round of one of those].

However, if your league DOESN'T have @ least 12 teams in it....
then, I still WOULDN'T pick Michael Turner even in the 2nd round
unless you're 100% certain that there's an Atlanta Falcons fan in your league.

This is where you've gotta take advantage of people's draft tendencies.
It's essential to remember that people often:
(1) pay too much attention to last year's stats,
(2) put all of their EARLY faith into where the CPU has players ranked, &
(3) look to draft a QB [or a WR] once the 1st 10 runners are off-the-board

The people that pay too much attention to last year's stats
WON'T even be looking @ Michael Turner for a while
[naturally, b-cuz he was LT's backup & therefore DIDN'T crack the 1000 yard mark].

The folks that pay too much attention to CPU rankings [early in the draft]
WON'T even notice Michael Turner b-cuz
places like Yahoo will have him rated LOWER than alotta LESSER runners
simply b-cuz the LESSER guys got more touches last season.

The folks that panic once the 1st 10 runners are off-the-board
WON'T even be thinking about drafting Michael Turner
until the marquee QBs/WRs start disappearing too.

There's really no point to drafting Michael Turner so soon
when you could easily pickup a superstar that plays ANOTHER position
& still have a chance to get Turner afterwards.

I wouldn't target Michael Turner until the upper tier QBs & WRs are gone.

Don't pick a player just to have him----timing is key.

OK, here's my grade of your team & who I think you should hurry up n' get in free agency.

Quarterbacks - A
You can't argue w/ Peyton as a starter & Favre gives him a most capable backup.

Runningbacks - C+
If Young stays healthy & DNC's gotta step in for Justin Fargas....
then, this grade will easily move into the "B" range.
Ladell Betts is a good pick if sumthin' happens to Clinton Portis.

I'm NOT so high on your choosing Kevin Faulk or Kenton Keith
[especially when they share the same bye week].

You might wanna start looking for whoever's left in free agency outta
Thomas Jones, Ricky Williams, Fred Jackson, Rashard Mendenhall, Kenny Watson,
Ray Rice, Steve Slaton, Darren Sproles, Corell Buckhalter, Ahmad Bradshaw,
Felix Jones, Matt Forte, Kevin Smith, Chester Taylor, Bernard Jackson,
DeShaun Foster, Pierre Thomas, Maurice Morris, Jerious Norwood, or Jonathan Stewart.
Hurry the fuck up, man!!!!

Tight Ends - A
You hit the jackpot here!!!

Wide Receivers - D+
You REALLY screwed this one up, bro.
Aside from Larry Fitzgerald, you DON'T really have anyone that's a REAL threat.

You've gotta bye week problem with Joey Galloway & Derrick Mason
[plus, BOTH of them are VERY high risk].

Shawn MacDonald, David Patten, & Mike Furrey will be lucky to get many looks @ all.
Plus, you've gotta receiver (Terry Glenn) that still HASN'T been signed by anyone.

Your receivers need MAJOR revamping.
Check to see if you might be able to find the following guys in free agency:
Marvin Harrison, James Hardy, Lee Evans, Ted Ginn, Derek Hagan, Nate Washington,
Chris Henry, Kevin Walter, Ronald Curry, Patrick Crayton, DeSean Jackson,
Steve Smith (NYG), Robert Meacham, Dwayne Jarrett, Bryant Johnson, Courtney Taylor.

Kicker - B
You made a pretty good choice w/ Neil Rackers.

Defense - C
Tennessee plays in a division w/ some 2 tough offenses (Jacksonville & Indy).
They're also gonnabe facing some teams that're surely gonna air it out
(Green Bay, Cincinnati, NYJets, Cleveland, & Pittsburgh).
You might wanna try to steal a team that's leftover in free agency....
maybe Buffalo, Cleveland, Jacksonville, Arizona, or Carolina.

You had me and you lost me. Courtesy of my ex I watch the Bears but if it wasn't for him and the chicken nachos I coulda passed on that lol. And it's a damn shame I was a cheerleader for years and yet I have absolutely no idea what any of this is but I'm pretty sure if I pay attention to this enough I'll pick up some stuff, by the time next year rolls around I probably will have my own team.

What up son!!!! You said in your blog that you doubt that a nigga can give the scoop on this Fantasy shit better than you. I think I can hang with ya patna, but I just don't want to give my strategy away.....LOL.

Your teams look sick though. I think my league is going to be the toughest to win though.....because we don't have individual defensive players. My team in your league, I need a couple of tailbacks so I'll be online today shopping some offers. And I'm still calculating my week 1-3 drop off with our trade. So I'll get back at you sometime later tonight daddy!!!!!!!
