When looking at the last two gigs, I think we know how to put balance in our band. In Amsterdam Meet the Storm was drunk, except for Davy. And the gig in Exit last thursday Meet the Storm was sober, except for Davy. He felt that he missed a couple of things last gig and decided to drink more than the rest of the band drunk all together in the Cave. He succeeded.. Resulting in a drummer too drunk to even walk. Hell yea, and the gignight didn't even start yet. Let's just hope they don't serve alchohol in England...
We played with our buddies Defuse and the guys from Noyalty; a metal/hardcore band from Eindhoven.
To reach the backstage u had to go through a pitch black hallway. When I managed to find the end of it I was surprised that I didn't end up in Narnia. And just to tease the little musicians they put a step up in the middle of the pitch black hallway. And yes, I nearly broke my neck.
After reaching the backstage my first impression was that it was for dark rituals of angry emo kids. It was all hung with black sheets, far away from the normal world cuz of the dark alley. The perfect place for Goth kids to sacrifice their pets.
Davy literally was pissed because he couldn't do his own drumsticks, so he decided to use those from another band. All for spreading the territory, right?
Defuse opened the night with a great show. I start to recognise the songs now. And I even know some lyrics.. HELL YEA
Their gig ended with the guitarist being so thrilled up that he smashed his guitar on the floor. After that he realised that he didn't have a manager to fix him a new guitar for free. Ah well, it looked cool
After Defuse was Noyalty ready to gig. They did a cool show with some nice jumps. I think it's one of the few bands that sort of have the same style as us, with us being slightly more punk and them being slightly more metal.
So. With a drummer being so drunk he couldn't even sit straight we hoped everything would turn out right. Strange enough he managed to do so. We found a switch on his back with two options: Perform and Being drunk. We gave it a shot and apperently it worked. There seems to be a short movie of our drummer practising and doing tricks on the sidewalk with his drumsticks without any trouble, followed by him standing up and almost crash to the ground being the drunk bastard he is. We'll try to put it on the myspace soon.
This was our first gig with the new guy, and I gotta say. It felt really natural! I think we found the right guy.
So. Us starting at 24:00 I got home at 01:30.. YAY! Coffee does the trick in the morning at work...
Thanks for reading! Peace Niels MtS
