Stars and Stripes Festival SMART Travel Program
Mount Clemens, MI- The 2009 Stars & Stripes Festival teams up with Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART) to introduce the 2009 Stars and Stripes Festival SMART Travel Program.
The third annual Stars and Stripes Festival held Friday, June 26 through Sunday, June 28, 2009 has named SMART the exclusive transportation sponsor of the 2009 festival. Their collaborative efforts to make transportation safer, easier and more earth-friendly for festival patrons has resulted in the 2009 Stars and Stripes Festival SMART Travel Program.
With buses running every ten minutes along the Gratiot route as well as the option to park and ride at the Meijer on 23 Mile Road and Macomb Mall at Masonic Road, patrons can alleviate the stress of a long commute after a day filled of fun and festivities. By taking a comfortable and reliable way of travel, patrons can relax and let someone else do the driving.
Stars and Stripes Festival SMART Travel Program also presents an additional resource for people to opt for a safe way of travel. For patrons that may consume alcohol during the event, this is a simple solution to responsibly protect themselves and others.
Additionally, this program also puts the green initiative on the agenda. Instead of driving alone in separate vehicles, commuting together reduces the amount of CO2 emissions that causes irreversible damage to the environment- a benefit that can be shared by all.
Each year over 13 million people benefit from the SMART bus and shuttle services offered in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb county. By offering curb-side bus stops, transportation is wheelchair accessible and serves people of all ages in the Southeastern Michigan region.
