** CHECK THE PLAYER ON MY MYSPACE TO HEAR THE TRACKS **

ARTIST: ROBERT HOOD
TITLE: OBEY / RESURRECTION
LABEL: M-PLANT
FORMAT: VINYL / DOWNLOAD
RELEASE DATE: 24 AUGUST 2009

TRACKLISTING:
1. OBEY
2. RESURRECTION

Last month saw the re-launch of Robert Hood’s M-Plant label, marked by the release of a Special Edition of his 1994 masterpiece, ‘Minimal Nation’, tour dates across the globe, plus a re-designed logo and website by Dutch graphic designer Patrick Vogt.

Robert Hood needs little introduction.  Founding member of the legendary Detroit group Underground Resistance as a 'Minister Of Information' with ‘Mad’ Mike Banks & Jeff Mills, his seminal works on Jeff Mill's Axis and his very own M-Plant imprint (not forgetting releases on Tresor, Cheap, Peacefrog, Music Man etc), not only paved the way for a wave of stripped-down dancefloor minimalism that directed much of techno's path throughout the late Nineties, but continues to influence to this day.

Now Robert Hood continues the M-Plant mission with this brand new two-track release: ‘Obey / Resurrection’.

Both tracks display Hood’s continued experimentations with a minimal sound he has been exploring and developing since the early Nineties.  The toughest beats, relentless grooves and an incredible ability to still invoke “the funk” behind something so stripped down and forged from the machines that are the tools of his trade.

In Robert’s own words “I would never have imagined that [minimalism] would take this direction. I saw minimalism in life becoming more and more evident - in furniture, in electronics, in art, in automobiles, appliances - you know I could see that coming.  But, as far as music itself being thought of as an art form?  Back then, I think people looked on at it as a trend but they didn’t realise that minimalism is an art form…  So, where I’m at right now is embracing minimalism and seeing how far I can push it - in my interpretation of what simplicity and the music is all about.  I am really representing it as an art form and not a trend.”

Can't wait to grab this one, all your tracks are simply amazing. I just wish I had them all on wax, eventually I will. I managed to grab every basic channel, chain reaction (of which there are a lot), rhythm & sound, maurizio etc release from some source or other and along with those all your releases will be treasured. Proper minimal unlike a lot of the 10 minute made trendy minimal shit out there. Keep it deep man.

Peace,
Mez.
