The recent Unconventional Denver meeting was an exciting one. With some old and many new faces, a new group is emerging out of the DNC protests. With the conventions behind us, we trained our eyes to the future and talked about the issues that speak to us as well as what we'd like to get out of an anarchist collective. Here is a summary of what transpired.

Growth, Action, Propaganda

As we listed the kind of work we wanted to take up, we noticed three general themes: growth, action and propaganda. Around those themes a few projects jumped out as ones we're all interested in. We'll be using those three facets of organizing to begin working on those, though we also emphasized that we wanted to be a group that offered solid support for other struggles going in Denver and beyond. Upcoming Projects

Post-Convention/Election Organizing
We're speaking at several events to tell the stories of the DNC and also facilitate conversations on how those events affect our work now. For those still feeling the effects of state repression from this summer's mobilizations we're organizing several events to raise critical funds as well as awareness of those being criminalized for their dissent. We'll also be participating in an exciting day after the election event to bring to light the limits of represenational politics and offer anti-capitalist views on the current economic downturn. We'll send out a separate email with specifics on each event.

Foreclosure/Finanical Crisis
Denver is one of the hardest hit cities when it comes to the foreclosure crisis. It is something that has impacted the neighborhoods we live in and is an issue that strongly resounded with many of us. We'll be studying the foreclosure situation locally and nationally as well as learn what work is going on here as well as campaigns and groups around the country that are doing inspiring work around this issue. With that information we'll hopefully see some exciting and powerful work to keep people in their homes and fight back against this predatory system.

Eco-Defense
The Roan Plateau, an awe-inspiring stretch of land is now being slated for drilling from the Oil and Gas Industry. It's an issue that is of great concern to us and one we're currently researching and learning about.

Anti-War Resistance
War and occupation rages on in Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine and elsewhere around the globe. We made solid links with Iraq Veterans Against the War during the DNC and are also talking with other activists in the4 region around an exciting campaign that you'll have to come to a meeting to find out about!

Again these are just issues that initially jumped out as ones we want to work on. There was a broad range of issues and causes brought up at the meeting that people are already working on or interested doing more with.
