Alright people. Bank Holiday weekends rule, especially when the sun is a-shinin.
Cheers for coming along on Friday, those who made it. Even with your lovely support it was a rather nerve-racking gig for us, being the first time we've played live since October '08. I accidentally started the gig with the mic stand so low it looked like James Hetfield in a limbo contest... Bit of the old rabbit-in-headlights for a few songs then we got it together and it was Really Rather Good Fun. We are determined not to get down about little fluffs here and there. Are we robots? - no - we are Harry Angel! (Special thanks to Grant Christian's tall "strawberry blonde" mate who helped us carry out our equipment. Nice work, really appreciated.)
We have another chance to test our mettle on Saturday 2nd May, at The Bullingdon Arms with Witches and Thin Green Candles. It's Leigh from Beaver Fuel's birthday. We might be learning one of his many international hits, such classics as bondage-themed singalong 'Strapped for Gash', the touching exploration of mental illness that is 'F*ck You, I've Got Tourettes' or the firm family favourite and 1973 Eurovision winner 'I Want To Live in Your Buttcrack'. We hope you can make it.
Last week we also started some new recordings. Amongst a few cups of tea and sandwiches from Boots (move over Motley Crue, the Angel are in town), we put down drums and most of the bass parts for 'Intro Music', 'Hospital Radio' and 'Get Out'. Hayley's mighty Rickenbacker sounded ace. Andy pounded intricate hell out of his kit. I played guitar, drank tea, set up mics and pressed buttons to make Logic hoover up all this spangly rock energy. These songs will form the basis of our next release after the current one, which you should be getting a taster of very soon...
Best wishes, as always
