Who Gives Kudos:

Wednesday, November 04, 2009
Hi guys... Alex from Captain here, it's been a while eh?!

So sorry we've been so quiet for so long and that we've not been able to be clear with you as to what's going on; We haven't been clear ourselves!  We needed a break and a chance to stand back and think everything over.

Since parting company with EMI, it's been a difficult time for the band.  Life took over and individually we wanted to explore other musical projects and ideas, which is still ongoing.  We frequently talked at length about what to do, how to go about releasing the 2nd album 'Distraction' and for various reasons decided to leave it for a while.  Ironically, you could say we got massively distracted.

Anyway, we are all still such great friends and hanging out all the time and feel like it could be time to get back in touch with you and see how many of you might be interested in hearing some more Captain, particularly this brilliant second album!

EMI can't deal with our mailing list anymore, for obvious reasons so I've started a new one.  We're quite excited about collecting your emails so we can build a more personal and direct relationship with you all.

For your troubles and your amazing patience we are rewarding all those of you that sign up to the new list with some previously unheard/unreleased Captain tracks.  Once you sign up (just visit http://captain.fanbridge.com/ ) you will have access to 'Back in the knife drawer'.   This track was part of sessions we did in Oxford prior to the recording of 'Distraction'.  The sessions now hold extra special memories for us as they were recorded by our friend the wonderful Richard Haines who tragically died recently, far far too young.
The only plan for now is to get this new mailing list set up, gauge interest, and after that make the next step. Everyone is really busy on other projects so we can also keep you updated with happenings across the whole Captain musical family.

Much love to you all, thanks for the continued support, we've missed you.

Great to hear from you! Saw Captain live plenty of times, & have missed your gigs. Hopefully you'll get the chance to play live again, & also release the second album at some point, & record more music.  I've signed up to the mailing list.

Alex, I wouldn't be lying if I still said you guys are still to this day my favourite band, ever!

It's such a waste of something brilliant if you guys don't continue doing what you did best.  Captain really worked as a band and I never understood how you guys never really took off, considering whenever you guys had gigs I'd be happy to travel many a mile to catch you live, it even got to the stage where you shockingly became my mum's fave band and she'd be begging me to drag her to your gigs where she'd happily stand down the front having her socks rocked!  My friend Kerena actually walked down the aisle to Broke!

Please come back! The Hideaway was such a special evening and that night alone made me realise how much I'd missed seeing you guys play, but it's been aaaaages since that gig!

I was lucky to obtain a copy of Distraction and it is undoubtedly one of the greatest albums I own, don't let it go to waste, if you don't own the rights to it, sod it and bring on the new material!
Gigs or even A gig, please! x

Alex! Fantastic news about Captain. Shame you split up but also awesome you got back together. The fans would love to hear the full second album i'm sure.

There are a few of myfriends who have been introduced to Captain and would really like to see them live, say in Scotland for example. Its great that there is still interest in the band and i personally look forward to hearing more from you guys as soon as :)

If the second album doesn't make it to CD I hope you'll make it available somehow.
Your music is too wonderful and uplifting to be kept in box.

Praise Jebus :) I just put on "An Evening Light" and thought I'd check your website with my usual feeling of pessimism but it seems my favourite little known band live on!!

So happy about this news guys, I'd love to be kept up to date, "Distraction" or whatever it eventually becomes is pretty much my most wanted album ever! All the best Captain!! :)
