Who Gives Kudos:

Sunday, April 20, 2008
on the flight to Austin, I was watching Into the Wild... and there was a quote at the beginning of the movie. It's keeping me up now; so I would like to share it with you.

There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music in its roar:
I love not man the less, but Nature more,
From these our interviews, in which I steal
From all I may be, or have been before,
To mingle with the Universe, and feel
What I can ne'er express, yet cannot all conceal.

Lord Byron

I want to thank everyone at UT for helping us out so much! Everything here was beautiful. I heard it was snowing back home still... so I am going to miss the Texas sun very much.

i am excited for the flight home today because I plan on watching some Disney movies. the best ever.

you're right. Disney movies are the best! :) My favorite is Mulan just because I'm Asian.

Sorry you can't sleep...but plane rides are uncomfortable anyways...and you always wake up with a sore neck too! It happened to me. I was just on an 11 hour flight to Japan last week. It was brutal...

Well it's not exactly 4 AM where I am...so I thought I'd say a few words...I've never commented you guys before. But I've heard about you from some friends..do you remember Esther Lee? She met you guys at a concert a while back with some other friends...well she's the one who got me into your music...which I might say is amazing! (the music, I mean...but Esther is amazing too!)

I just wanted to drop by and say thanks for the great songs and I maybe I'll get to see you guys at the end of May! Oh & btw Kenny, I think you have an amazing voice...I could listen to it all day long :)

Wishing you a safe trip home!

The snow melted.
It's sunny and beautiful out, now.
But there's a slight chill.

honestly, the movie can't compare to the book. if you liked that quote, there's plenty more in the book by Krakauer. doesn't chris mccandless seem so awesome? i would have loved to meet him during his lifetime. i went through a phase when i worshiped all the quotes in the novel because they're all quotes i would love to live by. its funny because my two obsessions are chris mccandless and you and you're now talking about chris mccandless. this is crazy.

kenny choi, you're awesome and you'll be seeing me at all three of your california shows!

Lord Byron has some of the most captivating of words. Those do echo truth though. Consider that in the presence of nature we are more our primitive self. There is a humbleness that the sea washes over our arrogant human hearts and a comfort that the woods provide. Nature the very first paradox we confront in its complexity of design strips us of pretensions. I am just agreeing with Lord Byron, but of course I cannot put it into better words. I see why you couldn't get any rest dwelling on so grand of an emotion. I wish you safe travels when you get back on the road. I would also like to thank you for generating music which soothes my unsettled heart. The music you guys makes restores my childish optimism and hope for the existence of pure emotions within the human heart.

Lord Byron is great, because he wrote Walden in nine lines essential.
<3 see you at chain reaction in May
