Well, since my tenure here in Dallas working as a stay-at-home-Dad, I’ve taken up quite a few hobbies. Of course there’s always the Stick to practice, but too much practice can wear ya down - creatively and physically.
So in addition to daily Hooked on Phonics sessions with the rugrat, I’ve taken up some electronics tinkering which has produced a few functional projects and one ongoing project (more on that in another blog), some basic sewing skills (both the electronics and the sewing stem from fixing Cadee’s toys and doll clothes), and more recently I’ve started becoming more intimate with Photoshop.
When I was working at Studio 1 Screenprinting in Hattiesburg, the boss had to buy a new scanner which came with both a mac and a windows copy of Photoshop Elements. I got the Mac copy and my co-worker Justin got the Windows copy. I’ve had it for almost a year, but I’ve only tinkered with it until recently. Premo Stallone, my buddy from the 2 Zigg Zaggs and Afroman touring days started a hair metal tribute band called The Glitter Boys (http://www.myspace.com/theglitterboys) - complete with spandex and wigs.
They’ve met with quite a bit of success since they started playing live a coupla months ago. Hell, their first show got shut down by the Fire Marshall before they even got to play a second set.... That’s a good problem to have.
Anyway, he needed some flyers done and I needed some Photoshop experience - I’ve never been happy with any of the flyers I’ve done for my own shows in the past, it was time to step up my game.
Fortunately most of the flyers I’ve done have been ’tribute’ flyers so I’ve had something to work with already instead of starting from scratch.
So... here they are, hope you dig
