Legendary lead voice of the Persuasions, Jerry Lawson paid a visit to CHOICE headquarters in Jersey City. We could not have been more thrilled. Not in our most far-fetched dreams would we ever think we'd be chillin' in the company of Jerry Lawson, an incredible hero to us in our vocal group mission and ministry. It was an historical day, and a momentous occasion for CHOICE to be in the company of a true pioneer of a group of which the acappella scene never had known the likes. Whether by calculating ingenuity, or perhaps by chance, Jerry Lawson was inarguably key in establishing a group that branded themselves uniquely, and positioned themselves strategically in a class by themselves.True pioneers, they won favor, acclaim and a level of respect previously unknown to an acappella group.
Truly, there was nobody else out there who could equal their amazing powerhouse sound, or who would take the approach and selectively dared to choose the material they did. They climbed the ladder and there they sat seemingly proud, perched above all the rest, earning every single one of their professional spurs, against all odds. Odds, yes, indeed, given the street corner acappella genre, so often stigmatized and historically marginalized, had never yielded a group that could command such respect and bear such influence upon a myriad of other groups who could only wish for the same achievements.
Jerry Lawson and the Persuasions defeated the odds, and earned it. Jerry still has it, and keeps on rolling! Take CHOICE's word for it. CHOICE's word is bond.
