Hi and welcome back.

This is my 2nd Blog for this week and i hope everyone enjoys the movies i'm going to be listing.

Horror movies that are a must for any Halloween fan during this festive season.

CLASSIC HORROR MOVIES:

Night of the living dead by George Romero: Still holds up incredibly well, considering it was done back in '68 in Black and White. Awesome mood to an incredible film and is one of the few Zombie movies that gives my wife nightmares. One of my personal favorite

Dawn Of the Dead by George Romero: Another Romero Masterpiece. Pure brilliance. Required viewing for any zombie fanatic.

Day Of the Dead: Again another zombie classic by Romero. Arguably one of his best if not THE  best zombie film he has ever made, at least in my opinion.

Halloween by John Carpenter: A pure classic. it still unerves me to this day. I love the mood and shadows that Carpenter employs in this movie. Jamie Lee Curtis rocks Laurie Strode hard.

Halloween 2 by John Carpenter: Must viewing for any Horror fan. Again another timeless classic.

The Thing by John Carpenter: In essence one of his best movies ever made. Thoroughly captures the paranoia of an unseen alien menace.

Zombie 2 and 3 by Lucio Fulci: Gore soaked and creepy in it's mood and portrayal of the Zombie apocalypse.

Return of the Living Dead 1 and 3 : Pure mindless fun. Tongue in cheek dark, dark humor but well worth checking out for the gore and awesome looking zombies. Saw these in the cinema.

The Exorcist: This one gave my Mother nightmares for several years.

The Exorcist 3: Not as good as the first film but still better than most other horror flicks.

Maniac: A creepy and disturbing look inside the mind of a serial killer as he hunts his victims. An awesome film with incredible Tom Savini special effects and one of the best old school shotgun blasts to the head that just makes you rewind the scene to see it again.

New Horror films that are required  viewing:

Halloween 1 and 2 by Rob Zombie: i don't consider these 2 movies remakes as i feel they are more of a re-imagining and  Rob Zombie's version are disturbing and different to Carpenter's originals and can be watched separately without comparing the 2 directors versions.

Dawn Of the Dead by Zach Snyder: Another re-imagining of a classic but unlike other remakes this film makes the story it's own and Zach Synder creates an awesome film well worth watching by any Zombie maniac.

Vanguard: This little film completely caught me by surprise and everyone i have told to check it out comes back to tell me how great they thought it was. An end of world scenario with a type of infected regressed zombie more apelike than a traditional zombie but incredible scenes of action and filmaking.

Tooth and Nail: Another end of the world type of film that has become a staple to watch every few weeks for me. It has the best  opening sequence of images and music that get you pumped for an awesome movie.

28 days later and 28 weeks later: Technically not zombie movies but seemed to be considered as such. Still incredibly awesome sequences that stress you and have you literally at the edge of your seat.

The many deaths of Ian Stone: This little film has so much charm and charisma that it immediately won me over within the first few minutes of seeing it.

Dark Floors: A weird and surreal movie. Awesome to look at but if you take your eyes away from the screen don't be surprised if you're totally lost afterwards. Still worth checking out.

The Signal: This movie that i had never heard of was another really awesome surprise and doesn't shy away from the violence and gore. it had a dark sense of humor while being incredibly sinister in it's portrayal of a society gone mad with only a few inhabitants sane enough to survive or maybe it's the other way around?

Inside: Be warned and don't send me hate e-mails after watching this French movie. highly disturbing and the end...Ughhh. gave me the shakes for a long time afterwards.

Martyrs: Goddamn the French directors have begun to eclipse their english counterparts with outright sick and disturbing films. Be warned and be ready for a descent into Hell.

The Descent: A group of women descend into caves to bond and become closer and discover things best left buried. Bloody and innovative,Gore soaked and pure fun. A must.

Let the right one in: One of those sleeper Vampire films that got rave reviews on the Con circuit. Awesome from beginning to end.

Dog Soldiers: Werewolvers versus Soldiers. It totally kicks ass. Rent and see. Gore,Blood and violence with automatic weapons, beheadings, disembowelment. You name it.

Severance: A group of corporate execs go to a country retreat for bonding and fun only to discover because they work for the biggest weapond manufacturer in the world they are being targeted  by psychopaths hell bent on dismembering them.

Okay check these out and let me know what you think.

I love teh romero Movies, and also Return of the living dead 3...
Shaun of the dead is pretty great, love its sense of humor!
Blair Witch one was pretty funny, the  Coppola's Dracula is amazing for a good halloween, not to creepy...
but if you want to be creeped out sooo much, just try the Japanese version( the original one) of the grudge (JuOn). I know many people who haven't been able to sleep without light weeks and weeks later.
I've looked at "Muoi", a Korean/vietnamese japanese horror movie, nothing is really seen, but I liked the quiet atmosphere of it!
PLus the exorcist, for the scene with the girl peeing on the carpet, pretty scary!

Great titles Rich, I have to say that the original "NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD" the 1968 film is THE best one of all! Considering its a classic. Also John Carpenter's 1983 remake of "THE THING", John Landis's 1981 Masterpiece, "AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON" the list can go on and on!!!!!!!!

I love Day of the Dead! Bub has to be one of my favorite zombies ever. It's also one of those movies where you can play "name the song that samples this line" with. Most of the songs are goth/industrial but Gorillaz also samples part of it.

Might I suggest Fido for the people wanting a zombie movie that isn't too filled with death and gore. It definitely has it's share of zombies killing but it isn't the main focus. Plus Billy Connolly's Fido character looks a lot like Bub from Day of the Dead and Carrie Ann Moss is awesome in it. It also has a retro yet somewhat futuristic feel to it that I love.

Fido was awesome for very different reasons than a regular zombie movie. I think your description describes the film best. Billy Connoly is always awesome and to see him play a part without talking and merely grunting he pulls it off quite nicely.
