Hi guys Hope you are all ok.
Well
it's a full on week ahead taking in Wednesday at the Soul Cellar
featuring Mint South's acoustic Showcase, followed by Thursday night at
Talking heads where I'm supporting the legendary Slits. Friday it's the
return of the Supersonic Alternative Roller Disco and Saturday well
it's the Dorch Of Course.
Despite the awful weather last
Wednesday at the Cellar was still amazing and busy as can be. Thanks to
Matt and Mr Moodie for doing the bizz down in the Cellar. Goblets on
Thursday was the busiest yet and despite a small technical problem
halfway there's nothing that can't be sorted with the aid Mr Alex
Dawson, blue tack, gaffa tape and some wire reconnecting!! Saturday at
the Dorch was full of ladies what more can a man wish for.
And so on with the show.

The
Slits are one of the last remaining bands from the inner circle of
Punk. Their meaning and relevance transcends even that narrow
classification... They became the forerunners of a unique Dub/Punk fusion. They remain one of the most influential bands in the world.
The
Band started in 1976 in the wake of the immediate chaos and carnage of
the Sex Pistols. The band quickly settled on a central line up of Ari
Up, Tessa Pollit, Viv Albertine & Palmolive. It was this line-up
that supported the Clash during their 1977 White Riot Tour with the
Buzzcocks and the Subway Sect. Palmolive eventually left, leaving the
band to release only a handful of records. The first being the
legendary Dub influenced “Cut” album. The more experimental “The Return
Of The Giant Slits” followed this up and these together with a clutch
of acclaimed singles goes to make up The Slits cannon.
After a
25 year sabbatical which has seen Ari Up moonlight as the legendary,
Ragga Queen Mad-dusa and Tessa become a lethal martial arts expert
(whilst bringing up their respective children) THE SLITS ARE BACK…
The
core of Ari & Tessa have joined forces once again, drafting in Sex
Pistols drummer Paul Cook and legendary guitar hero Marco Pirroni (Adam
& The Ants, Siouxsie & The Banshees, Sinead O’ Connor…) to
create the “Revenge Of The Killer Slits” EP. The three tracks recorded
in the summer of 2005 feature the songs “Slits Tradition” , “Number One
Enemy” (an unrecorded song from the earliest depths of the bands
career) and “Kill Them With Love”. This is a one off recording from a
Slits line-up that will never be repeated again. Ari & Tessa are
already working with 3 new members to carry on and extend the Slits
legacy and they are playing gigs world wide as we speak…

HI It's that time again for the Supersonic Alternative Roller Disco. Every 3rd Friday of the Month @ Mo'Club.
We'll
be taking your requests as normal and playing an eclectic mix of tunes
spanning six decades of the alternative scene. I expect we'll also
throw some nifty cheesy classics in for good measure!!
The cost is £7.00 including spectators plus £3.00 boot hire.
You can bring your own boots and save on the hire cost but please check with the venue first that they are the right type.

continues to grow and re-invent.

Soul, Rhythmn'..n'Blues, Gothic, Metal, Post Punk, Loungcore, Guilty
Pleasures, Hammond Grooves, Hip Hop, Leftfield Dance, Tamla Motown and
Southern Fried Soul, 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's Retro as well as lots
of new music some you won't hear elsewhere.
Time is 10pm-2.30am. Admission is £1.00 from 9pm-10pm, £2 from 10pm up to 11pm and £3.00 after.
