CHARLIE GRACIE Celebrates 72 !
Philadelphia's very first rock 'n' roll star rocks in 72 on Wednesday, May 14th! 2008 also marked the 50th Wedding Anniversary for Charlie and Joan (Feb. 14th) and his 58th year in show business! The year promises to be another active one for Charlie--a full schedule with two overseas tours, a new cd (with many of the British Invasion artists he inspired) and a book of memoirs. Says Charlie: "I'm grateful to still be doing what I love. Joan and I have always separated my career--my job, if you will, from our family life. There's nothing quite like stardom, but we believe in values. We try to be a God-fearing, God-loving family. I go home to bed when I finish playing. We wach old movies, I put on my slippers and grow fat. I think that's why I've outlived most of my contemporaries. Its a rouch life...but its tougher when you have nothing to got nothing to go home to!" (As told to Bill Millar--London Daily Mail)
