hahaha I just wrote a huge blog about 1000 words and I totally lost my focus, so I'm starting a new one... to some people I might sound like a closed-minded (maybe I am) fundamentalist (who cares?), but I don't think I have any emergent friends hahaha.

Well Rob bell is kind of the flavor of the week with some churches, I personally think he's now taking the place of Rick Warren... finally Rick warren is out of the picture haha. Well I have nothing against Bell and is bizarre teachings, except his view of truth. Rob Bell is totally part of "Emergent" and it shows in is views of faith and theology. Now his book is titled "Velvet Elvis: Repainting the Christian Faith". I was re-reading the book (I read about 2 years ago) and a red flag went up when I read the "Repainting the Christian Faith".

He "Repaints" the faith by using an analogy with faith as a brick wall. Saying that (this is on page 26-27) faith is like a Brick wall. Saying that when you are a Christian it is like a brick wall of beliefs. And maybe one of those things you believed (he uses ideas like VIRGIN BIRTH or the trinity) turns out to be false, so you are missing a brick. Bell says, "Can you still be a Christian, can you still love God, Is Jesus the best possible way to live?" The question you should ask is this... "What if the Virgin Birth isn't real, would you lose anything in your faith?" the answer is YES!!!!!!! You would lose JESUS! Rob Bell thinks otherwise. Coming to the conclusion that there are many faiths with no absolute truths.

Doug Pagit, one of the leaders of Emergent Village, sort of backs up what Bell says and the book, "Listening to the Beliefs of the Emerging Church", Pagitt writes that "Theology and faith are always changing because they linked in every day and because every day life changes, so does your Theology and Faith".

Jude 1:3b puts these ridiculous claims to rest! We are to "Contend for the FAITH that was ONCE AND FOR ALL delivered to the saints." There is one faith, and we are to Contend to for it! We are to firmly believe in the scriptures! In addition, we are to Contend for them!

Because there is one faith that was once and for ALL (unchanging) delivered to the saints.

I'm pretty sure he was referring to if any part of the Bible wasn't true, would you still love Jesus? Sure his analogy of the virgin birth was a little meh, but the thought is there. If something of your faith, just one little thing, was invalid, would your faith for a God that supposedly saved you and changed your life for the better, would your faith in Him be dropped instantly, or would you keep searching for God in everything?

Get me? Love you bro!

i guess it depeneds on the part of your faith, the virgin birth is pretty important and i firmily believe with out the virgin birth there is no Jesus as the son of God, and i think that would have a huge toll on my faith in the scriptures.

but for something like Free-will vs. Reformed theology, it wasnt that big of a deal to find out there is no free-will. i guess if the belief is rotted in scripture it makes a differance

true that man. I like a lot of what Bell has to say and I like his style - but like with most athors/teachers you have to take the good points and call out the bad. Driscoll had a good sermon calling Bell out on this same thing...I will pass it along to you. keep up the good thoughts.
