Music legend, Mark Shurilla, will educate beginning and intermediate Songwriters on how to improve a song and how to apply those improvements to everday songwriting skills. Mark Shurilla has directly Produced or worked with a Variety of Local Successful Acts, such as: Electric War Babies (funk), Jerry Schneider Polka Band, McTavish, Couch Flambeau , and the Violent Femmes. He has Promoted many, including, Joan Baez, Arlo Guthrie, John Prine and George Winton, during his 30 year career as a Club and Theater Promoter. He is the founder of The Shepherd Express weekly, Milwaukee's most popular free newspaper, and is also known as a Musical Historian. He has been a driving force for the most successful Indy Promotions Co. in the midwest- Alternative Concerts Group (ACG), for over 15 years as the Promotion and Publicity Expert, for Theatres and Clubs, and Universities alike.


Mark Shurilla is a cutting edge songwriter, and was nominated for a Grammy Music Award in 1992 for Polka/Punk styled album of the year, when he released 'Polka Comes to Your House', and introduced a new breed of American Punk-styled Polka. He wrote a chapter in the Book 'The Illustrated History of Wisconsin Music'-published in 1987, also 'Baseball on Record' a book about music and baseball, in 1990. He shared accolades when his own song, about Warren Span, was released in 1979 by his band, The Blackholes, and then was inducted into a National Baseball Music Series Showcase, entitled 'Diamond Cuts', along with Springsteen and Dylan songs. He cut a spoken word-music album with Allen Ginsberg, which many historians refer to as '...Ginsberg's 'Newport' moment in Milwaukee, but ... this time Ginsberg performed with Mark Shurilla and not Bob Dylan'. For 20 years, in the midwest circuit, in Ballrooms and Theatres, he has Produced/Promoted/Performed for his own Buddy Holly Tribute Showcase, and currently is the active producer for a Johnny Cash Tribute. He is a cast member in an award winning documentary called 'Song Sung Blue', look for him, as himself, in the full length feature film, released in 2008, winning awards around the globe. Finally, he is the President of Express Productions.
