How small I am when I stand
under the stars
does not frighten me.

How large I am
when I consider
I am part of everything
does not frighten me.

Half-forgetting all
I have come from and kowing
only partly where to go --
none of that troubles me.

But how I send my son out
into the world

and how I hold myself upright
for him and your daughters --

and because:

these
cause me.
