i think people have been making lo-fi music forever. you just didnt hear about it because there wasn't a myspace or an internet. i personally find over production repulsing at this point in my life, and i hardly ever hear a song on the radio that i like, aside from college radio. i think it's more interesting to hear someones musical ideas in the raw as opposed to a studio collaboration with too many hands on the mixer.
